Can the Pirates win a rubber match for a second consecutive road series win? Can the Bucco bats find thrown baseballs and avoid their early season average of 10 Ks per game? Can the PBC's young hitters solve a tough puzzle in Chris Carpenter? Can Kevin Correia pitch another solid game?

These questions, and more, will be answered starting at 1:45 p.m. EST in St. Louis.

Let's Go Bucs!

Pittsburgh Pirates (3-2)

1. Tabata LF
2. Walker 2B
3. McCutchen CF
4. Overbay 1B
5. Alvarez 3B
6. Doumit C
7. Jones RF
8. Rodriguez SS
9. Correia P (1-0)

St. Louis Cardinals (2-3)

1. Theriot SS
2. Rasmus CF
3. Pujols 1B
4. Berkman RF
5. Craig LF
6. Schumaker 2B
7. Molina C
8. Descalso 3B
9. Carpenter P (0-0)

The Cardinals' record against the Pirates the last 13 times Chris Carpenter has started the baseball game?

13-0.

Let's end that today, boys!

Probably answered your own question there.

Hope I'm wrong, though. Love to see Pedro get that first HR off Carp.

I'd like to see Rodriguez start at shortstop today, and I wouldn't mind seeing Garrett Jones at first base and Bowker in right field to give Overbay a day off. That said, given his dinger last night, I could see Hurdle wanting to trot Lyle back out there this afternoon. We shall see.

Chris Carpenter + present Pirates difficulties in putting the ball in play = giant bucket of realism tossed in my face.

Well, hey, whaddya know? The Pirates got through the first with a hit and without a strikeout.

Though it looked like Overbay should have been called out on strikes on a fastball in the zone. Where's the outrage about the umpire?

A close ball on the top of the zone is different than a ball way outside clearly out of the strike zone. Plus, last night's umpire was inconsistent the entire game.

But I know you're trolling anyway.

And Pujols, whose average is lower than Pedro's, just struck out looking. Chump.

Just tweaking noses a bit. I don't like excuses.

Not really. Just that I'm not a fan of whiners.

Correia's dealing pretty well today. If he can keep it close, the Pirates may be able to touch up the Cards' bullpen and snatch a victory.

"Whiners" or people who make posts to deliberately get a rise out of people (i.e. troll). I'm not a fan of either.

It wasn't designed to get a rise out of anyone. It was my way of pointing out that it's pointless to whine about umpires because every team will suffer from bad calls and benefit from good calls. That's all.

Kindly do not impute motives that I do not have.

Bucs strike first. After Overbay reaches on a generously scored single (and takes second on a Pujols error), Doumit drives him in with a line drive double in the center-right gap. Good piece of hitting by Doumit, who stayed back on a 3-1 curve.

1-0 Pirates through 3 and 1/2 innings.

Let's Go Bucs!

Fat Elvis just grounds into a 3-6-3 double play.
