I'm not sticking up for Cedeno but I think that play was hardly routine. It was hit weakly, if anything he should've gotten the sure out even if it meant not getting the double play. Get the one out. Instead he tried to make the spectacular play. The ball hit to him after that was very similar and the play was very close. It would've been on the play where the error occured. Get the sure out. Hitting wise he's going to strike out, take very few walks but he can hit on a so-so basis. Neil's great baserunning doesn't end of being the go ahead run if not for a Cedeno run batted in early in the game.

Other than that I like what I see from this club so far. They're young, they're going to make mistakes, they're going to lose probably more than win. This is a learning curve. They showed this series against three pretty good starters that they sure can hit though. Thought the pitching was very good this series. On to St. Louis!

Can't believe that inning ended with only two runs given up. Cubs were awfully conservative on the basepaths. Get that there was 0 outs and Pena is coming up, but I'm not going to bank on Pena/Soriano to bring it home for me, when both are such terrible contact guys.

Tabata has been fantastic. Even though he was thrown out once, I still like that Hurdle is running him as much as he is. Paid off big time on that Jones AB a minute ago. Our offense seems much more aggressive this year, I like seeing us actually swinging and hitting those challenge pitches when we'd just stare at them in the past. I have no problem with being "impatient" if you're hitting your pitch.

Aggressive, but not stupid. In the past, there were so many baserunning mistakes. I like this team so far.

That was a great win today. They showed resiliency and I dont care if they lose more than they win as long as they play hard in every game.

You're the third catcher on this team. You get a chance to tie the game, show a little spark, make a name for yourself by trucking the opposing catcher on a play where the throw beats you by a mile, and you try to slide around him. That's not the kind of heart I'm looking for.

That is exactly what I thought. He had a great opportunity to make a game changing play and he decided to avoid contact. Lame effort.

Where did I say he intentionally threw it?

When you implied that he was stupid for throwing it.

It seemed like Ohlendorf got tired in thr 4th 5th and 6th innings and it showed with the location of some of his pitches. Sorianos home run was crushed . Why wouldnt they continue to pound him inside. As of right now, we have 12 hit and 12 strikeouts through 7 innings. You have to score more than 3 runs when you have 12 hits. Very frustrating.

Ohlendorf should never have gone out there for the sixth. It's very early, of course, but Hurdle is showing a disturbing tendency to go a bit too long with his pitchers.

I cant believe how frustrated I am already with this team and its only 3 games in. JJ, you are one slow catcher. Barrel Soto over if you knew the ball was going to beat you there.

They could've pinch run for JJ there. You only get 27 outs. Get your fastest guy off the bench, put him on third, insert Doumit the next inning.

If you're going to be carrying 12 pitchers and only two catchers, you can't be wasting one of your few bench guys pinch running and another replacing the pinch runner.

A good slide beats that tag. If you slide with your upper body sticking straight up in the air, you're just providing a target.

I know it's WAY early and it was only against the Cubbies, but I officially like this team.

Three straight well played games, competent pitching thus far (one Meek outing aside), thisclose to being 'undefeated'

I like this team so much that I'm going to change my preseason wins prediction from 63 to 67. They've earned an extra 5%.
