Ross is cruising along, one-hitter through 3. Gives up a couple hits in the 4th and then has A-Ram 0-2 and grooves one. Bases loaded. Games changes with one pitch. Ross might be an Ivy leaguer. but mentally, not so much.

I am sure that Ross did not intend to throw such a pitch. They are called "mistake pitches" for a reason.

Where did I say he intentionally threw it? It wasn't a good pitch and when you are 0-2, you need to put the batter away. The reason Ohlendorf has not taken it to the next level, he has made too many "mistakes".

With that said, he did bounce back nicely and didn't make any more "mistakes" and got out of the inning only giving up two.

Can't believe that inning ended with only two runs given up. Cubs were awfully conservative on the basepaths. Get that there was 0 outs and Pena is coming up, but I'm not going to bank on Pena/Soriano to bring it home for me, when both are such terrible contact guys.

Tabata has been fantastic. Even though he was thrown out once, I still like that Hurdle is running him as much as he is. Paid off big time on that Jones AB a minute ago. Our offense seems much more aggressive this year, I like seeing us actually swinging and hitting those challenge pitches when we'd just stare at them in the past. I have no problem with being "impatient" if you're hitting your pitch.

It seemed like Ohlendorf got tired in thr 4th 5th and 6th innings and it showed with the location of some of his pitches. Sorianos home run was crushed . Why wouldnt they continue to pound him inside. As of right now, we have 12 hit and 12 strikeouts through 7 innings. You have to score more than 3 runs when you have 12 hits. Very frustrating.

Agreed. A lot of those K's were terrible, too. You shouldn't be striking out when you have hittable pitches. Pedro's last AB he gets two great pitches to hit and takes them to go 0-2, and that's with a man on first. Then he K's on 0-2 while swinging at ball one. Hate seeing that. You got a man on first, you're down one, you don't need to be taking two strikes.

I cant believe how frustrated I am already with this team and its only 3 games in. JJ, you are one slow catcher. Barrel Soto over if you knew the ball was going to beat you there.

A waste of my afternoon. Somebody shoot me and put me out of my misery. The Cubs were giving us this game and we can't even take it. Sigh

They could've pinch run for JJ there. You only get 27 outs. Get your fastest guy off the bench, put him on third, insert Doumit the next inning.

You're the third catcher on this team. You get a chance to tie the game, show a little spark, make a name for yourself by trucking the opposing catcher on a play where the throw beats you by a mile, and you try to slide around him. That's not the kind of heart I'm looking for.

Hate it when Tabata swung at the first pitch - just really hate it!! Other team on the ropes....rattled....and Tabata swings at the first pitch. My dad, bless his soul, also hated it when Pirate hitters swung at the first pitch!!

You dont know how happy I am with that win. They can frustrate you constantly, but then they score 2 in the 9th, and then Cedeno throws one into right field and then the next pitch a slow ground ball to Cedeno who redeems himself. Good turn by Walker and great hustle by him as well.
