Walker should have been bunting in that situation.

Holy smokes! I missed the top of the 5th.. a grand salami by Walker? He's a player! Who is doing play-by-play?
I'm waiting for him to hit a walk off homer so Greg Brown can call it a walk-o-jack!

Just watched the clip of Walker's slam. Greg Brown is horrible. He was surprised that went out. Neil crushed that ball!
I can imagine Mike Shannon or Tom Hamilton calling in that situation.. they would have had no doubt in their minds that was
a homerun.

Carmona is getting knocked around.. 6-0 White Sox after three.

Now McCutchen goes yard. Hey, I could get used to this.

Me too.

Correia settled down nicely. He was scaring the crap out of me in the 1st.

I like this concept of the 'big four':

Off day for Tabata and Pedro, but Cutch and Walker are picking up the slack.

My fantasy team disapproves, but I like.

Pedro is a mess defensively. As the third baseman, that was his ball. He hasn't done one thing right in the field. Very disappointing.

Would have loved it if Perry Hill had stuck around to work on Pedro's fielding.

If Joel Hanrahan is going to walk people with a three run lead, start giving the ball to Meek

Don't like the walks, but it is what it is with Hanrahan. He's throwing 98-99 mph in cool weather.

This game is the way they'll have to win all year.

Draw walks, steal some bases, timely hitting and good enough starting pitching. We generated runs today by taking walks, instead of the constant hacking of years past. And hell, Alvarez stole a base!

Hurdle stressing those two components of the game proved effective today and we won.

Some interesting points: Extra base hits - Bucs 5, Cubs 0
Walks drawn: Bucs 7, Cubs 2

Things you haven't see to much in recent history.

Hi guys. I can't see the game but I just saw the video clip of Pedro's high throw to first on Gameday.
Did Overbay make any effort to grab that ball? I wonder if he couldn't have caught that.

About to watch the Indians-White Sox on TV. I hope Fausto Carmona pitches well.

Ollie...nobody answered your question. The answer is no. I am not sure if he misjudged it, or he was too worried about keeping his foot on the bag...but he certainly could have had it!

winning one on the road. Be smart to keep track of that fact alone.

That is how every team in baseball has won for the past 25 years, the Pirates of 1990-1992 included.

Ain't that the truth! Encouraging for one day, that's for sure. If this team gets some early road wins under its belt the confidence will grow and they'll be less likely to tank ALL the time on the road like last year. Then, who knows what could happen? I'm dreamin'...don't wake me up.

But that's not what John Russell's teams even attempted to do.

I like that Hurdle made a point of working on these in the spring.
