Rats.. couldn't drive the runner in..

By the way, Strasburg has now struck out 32 in 19 innings as a Major Leaguer.. ten more K with no walks tonight. Crazy!

Ha! Tribe announcers have been complaining all night that Travis Hafner can't get at bats in National League
parks. He finally gets to pinch hit and Dotel hit him on the first pitch.

OK, Jones or Church get on and Pedro hits a walk-off HR for his first hit. Sounds good to me.

Every loss gets us closer to Rendon. It's the only way you can look at it and not throw up.

Sigh. 12 in a row. This is seriously depressing. And still waiting for Pedro to contribute anything offensively.

12 is just the beginning, people. The Rendon selection is all but assured. The Orioles can kiss my ass.

Instead of acquiring Bill Madlock, the team trades Stargell ... and Parker ... and Ott ... and Garner ... and Candelaria ... and Tekulve ... and Kison ... and Bibby ... and Blyleven ... and Milner ... and Robinson.

..and the Hit Man, Clevelander Mike Easler.

I'm listening to the 10th inning show on our local ESPN channel (not the one who airs the Tribe.)
The talk show host here is joking that the Pirates should be charged for abuse.. abusing their
city and beautiful ball park.

He's one of the many Clevelanders who admit that PNC Park is better than Progressive Field. Yea PNC!!

Ollie:

I don't think the "Hit Man" joined the Buccos until later. Relying on Bucfan's memory, as I am going to refer less to Baseball Reference and other sources for such information. I need to exercise my decaying brain to keep it sharp.

I had to look it up. From BR.com...

April 4, 1977: Traded by the California Angels to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Randy Sealy (minors).

October 27, 1978: Purchased by the Boston Red Sox from the Pittsburgh Pirates.

March 15, 1979: Traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Pittsburgh Pirates for George Hill (minors), Martin Rivas (minors) and cash.

So Easler was acquired, dealt, and reacquired, which I did not know. He had 62 PA in 1979, a new career high. He established himself in 1980 with 445 PA (and a .338 batting average!) in his age 29 season. So he can fairly be called a late bloomer.
