10 in a row? Sure hope not.

Im equally interested to see Pedro play defense at 3rd and hit.

Zach really needs to cut down some of those 2-0 and 3-1 counts. Those are tater counts.

Pub is open now for pre-game conversation. Pedro gets a quality lefty in Danks right off the bat. I like it.

Was it another base running blunder by Milledge on Duke's line drive?

No. Nothing he could do about. Smoked right back to the pitcher.

Pathetic business decisions by the organization to not call Alvarez on Monday. I'd say for a team that is on its way to 17 consecutive losing seasons and ten straight loses...the crowd isn't too shabby.

Hello everyone! I'm new here and look forward to chatting pirate baseball with you. I thought tonight would be the night to finally break the streak but it appears to be all for not. Duke was getting behind too many hitters early and the fact that he was throwing 85 to 83 mph cheese up there by the 4th was helping any. Does anyone know if that was his fastball that was losing velocity that early in the game? Maybe his sinker pitch?

On top of all that it doesn't appear the boys are going to be able to knock around Danks. He looks to have his stuff tonight.

Again, glad to be here talking bucs baseball. Big fan....and devoted, no matter how many losing seasons come our way.

Welcome aboard, buccosfan77.

Board is a bit dead due to the rather horrendous effort by the club tonight. More errors than hits ... Duke nibbling interminably, falling behind, and then getting hammered ... Alvarez hitting the ball solidly and logging some good AB's but no hit yet.

The best thing from tonight's game was Tabata's HR. And Meek's scoreless inning, with a K.

10 in a row. Seems longer.

I'll start it now to beat everyone at it...

That Alvarez guy sucks. He should never have been brought up...No HR's and not even a hit...He sucks, trade him away...

Pedro's hitting is what it was touted to be. His defense was, uhh, disappointing.

No, I knew you were making light of the situation, but the Pirates' effort tonight sucked all humor out of me.

And Pedro's defense was an issue. A double down the 3rd base line should have been fielded for an out, and the throw to third on the Pierre stolen base was right on the bag.

Not a good showing.

Bucfan, I didn't get to see the throw on the SB. But, in Pedro's defense on the double:

I was subjected to have to watch Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone on the Sox broadcast. On the double Stone said it wasn't a very good effort by Pedro. Then Hawk brought up that he was talking to Omar Vizquel about the PNC infield having more life than most others around home plate and in the dirt areas and that it really takes some getting used to. (Omar played 3rd for the Sox in game 1 of the series.)

Then they showed the replay and it looked like Pedro was getting ready to dive at the ball on it's last hop and it ended up passing him at about belt level. It looked like by the time he tried to regain himself from thinking about diving it was too late and thus came off looking like a lackluster effort.

I also think maybe you're being a little hard saying it should've been fielded for an out. I think he knocks it down and holds hitter to a single with some experience, but turning that into an out would've been Robinson-Nettles type play.

The ball was hit pretty hard. It got to Pedro promptly. If he fields it, he has a very good chance of getting the runner at first, I believe. Even if he does not get the runner, as you note, he prevents the runner on second from scoring on the play.

Just looked like a ball that most major league third baseman field cleanly, and many turn into an out.
