Why not DH Doumit? He is made of glass to begin with, the less he is on the field the less chance of injury...That and he plain sucks on defense

And Church too? I still think he's hurt. Let Young get a start in RF...

Which is worse.....Church in RF or D. Young?

I'd DH Doumit and play Young in RF and Jones at 1B.

Doumit is a really good option at DH. If he were in the AL, he'd be a valuable commodity there.

What the hell is Russell thinking?

It makes no sense to play him there when there is a DH. Just plain stupidity. He should have been the DH in every game this series.

Maholm has to keep this game close.

Paul Maholm is getting pounded and is lucky as hell to have given up just 1 run in 1 2/3 innings thus far. Church saved his ass big-time. He is just not a very good pitcher any more. I have no idea what happened to the guy who would throw complete games in 100 pitches.

Pirates are just an awful team right now. Jason Jaramillo, Ronny Cedeno, Ryan Church are not going to produce offense in any universe, particularly not in this one. It is just painful to watch the Pirates struggle to put runners on base, particularly knowing that it is going to take at least two more hits to get the runner home since the hitters are incredibly unlikely to log an extra base hit.

Moreover, it appears that Neil Walker is now the only Pirate batter allowed to hit a pitch on the outside corner the other way. Keep pulling that pitch, and I am sure that some day a grounder will sneak through!!

That player used to rely on a very good defense. The Pirates do not have that anymore.

The Pirates really are a bad, bad, bad team right now.

Doumit does not belong at first. He cannot catch anything. A pickoff throw gets by him. A throw by Meek and he cannot get his glove on the ball, and two runs result.

Of course, the grounder by Boesch should not have happened, because Meek had a brain fart of the first order when he did not go for the sure double play on the bouncer to him with runners 1st and 3rd, one out.

I am officially a member of the Jose Tabata Fan Club after that play. That is outstanding for a young player. Hustle, aggressiveness and base running ability. Love it.

And then he steals 3rd ... and Walker comes through with the game tying hit.

I want to watch Tabata, Walker, McCutchen, and Jones hit - Alvarez when he gets here.

I want to watch Meek, Hanrahan, and Dotel pitch. Maybe Lincoln as well. Don't mind seeing Maholm and Ohlendorf on the hill, if they are hitting their spots.

Guillen just took Donnelly deep to win the game in the bottom of the tenth. An absolutely excruciating loss. We should have had this game if not for Donut Doumit's missed catch error. Oi oi oi oi oi oi oi. We just not very good right now.

About 4 days ago, I posted that Doumit's defense was a liability.

Of course, I didn't realize that we would give him TWO positions to suck in.

He might as well not even have a glove.
