7:05 p.m. first pitch (weather permitting)

Here are the lineups:

Image

1. Andres Torres, RF
2. Freddy Sanchez, 2B
3. Pablo Sandoval, 3B
4. Juan Uribe, SS
5. Aubrey Huff, LF
6. Buster Posey, 1B
7. Aaron Rowand, CF
8. Eli Whiteside, C
9. J. Sanchez, P

Image

1. Andrew McCutchen, CF
2. Neil Walker, 2B
3. Lastings Milledge, LF
4. Garrett Jones, RF
5. Bobby Crosby, 1B
6. Ryan Doumit, C
7. Andy LaRoche, 3B
8. Ronny Cedeno, SS
9. Z. Duke, P

Not sure how I feel about Milledge in the 3-hole, but I like the rest of the lineup. Obviously, Pearce would like better hitting 5th than Crosby doing so, but what can you do?

Let's Go Bucs! Get 'em, Zach!

It's from a while ago. I miss having Jumpin' Jack Flash at short.

Remember when his 9th-inning, two-out, bases-clearing double beat the Cardinals to open the 2009 season? That sure seems like a long time ago...

Great memories Steel, great memories. Or his ranging, over the shoulder catch and the throw to Adam for the double play against the Phils last year?

Good to see Freddy back in town, too. His 2006 season is one of my favorite Pirate memories. I still can't believe he managed to win a batting title on that team with so little protection around him. But he hit .344, stroked 200 hits (including 53 doubles).

Embarrassing, isn't it?

It'll be nice to have McCutchen settle into that 3-hole when Tabata arrives.

Any predictions on the outcome of tonight's tilt?

I have a feeling that The Legend will rake a bit tonight and lead the Pirates to a 5-2 victory, with Duke pitching well.

Good prediction!

Damn rain. Though maybe it will throw Sanchez off more than Duke.

Rain is lasting longer than they anticipated. Looking at the radar it may be another hour before this game gets underway.

I would think they almost have to play it barring a hurricane today because of the rainout a few days ago.

Any end in sight?

It would be tough on the team if they can't get this one in...

Please stop playing Crosby at 1st, we need to give as many at bats to Clement he actualy has a future with us. His poor is real but he can not get any better watching a scrub play.

Honestly, I'd rather the team try to win than just get at bats for a guy who has played TERRIBLE baseball. I'm tired of watching Clement flail at the ball.

When Pearce gets healthy, he should man the first base job for the rest of the year. I'd rather see what he can do.

Couldn't take it. Left at 9:30. Blackberry shows another front moving in.

I am now comfortably ensconced in front of FSN.

send down Garrett Jones, he can't hit left-handed pitching... he can join Pedro Alvarez (/sarcasm)

Pearce had a long look last year at 1st he is nothing special..
Clement deserves the entire year to get it right.

We wanted him to be a bopper right?

Well he has 70 less AB's than Jones and Cutch, and 40 less than Doumit (the team leaders with 5 HR's) and he's only one behind them with 4.

He's got a lot to work on, don't get me wrong, but to give up on him now with those power numbers (that we wanted him to have) is just wrong.

Over a safe estimate of a full season of 550 AB's, that projects to 31 HR's.

I would rather lose with the kids leaning on the job then win with guys who have no future.
if we get the top pick we get this guy http://www.baseballrumormill.c...anthony-rendon/

Although I like the 3-0 lead, both Doumit and McCutcheon dogged it running the bases. I don't like that.
