Big day for Doumit. And somehow Steven Pearce has turned into a major leaguer. Great series at the plate, and some pretty strong fielding. The tag out at first on Cedeno's high and wide through was about the best one I've ever seen at 1B. His ABs look more disciplined and he's squaring up the ball really well. I had a pretty strong feeling he'd get that sac fly done today. Last year I'd pretty much given up on him but he's really gotten better this year. Way to go Steve.

If Doumit can have an overall good year (OPS .800+) in 2010 and start hot in 2011, he may be a helluva trading chip. He currently has the highest OPS of any starting catcher in the National League with enough at bats to qualify.

And Pearce should be the starting first baseman for the rest of the year. Let's give him 100 games or so of real action to see what he can truly be. Why not?

pearce looks like he belongs, aki on the other hand looks like a little leaguer playing in the majors 90% of the time. why don't they at least play young at 2B can't be worse defensivly than aki, and hopefully walker gets here soon anyway, so lay young and see what he does in 20 games in a row

the play crosby made in the 8th at 3B going towards short was really good, was also nice to see him keep his cool when ross tried to hand the ball to him after ross tagged doumit out. some guys would have went too far and started a bunch of trouble. ( Nyer Morgan and Hanley Ramirez showed who they are recently) Crosby made his point that it wasn't appreciated and let it go.

DK notes that Ross apologized to Crosby the next time he came to the plate. Apparently, he was distracted and genuinely thought he was handing it to the umpire.
