Not bad, only seven of the nine Pirates can't hit.

Well, maybe Charlie can bring down his ERA.

I understand the need to get Church playing time (and keep Jones in the line-up), but it's now two games in a row in which Pearce will sit out, after going 4/7 with a couple of extra-base hits in his last two games, and drawing a few BBs in the process. All but a couple of players on this team are struggling to maintain around a .250 average. Give the kid a chance.

And they're going to stick with Aki-matic in the lead-off spot? I guess Russell wasn't kidding about the terrifying thought of benching the "highest paid player", or at the very least, that highest paid player couldn't move down in the line-up.

Sorry, but two moves that just really don't make much sense to me.

I don't get the need to continue to play Church. Again, he is hitting .200-- what the hell. And is he part of the future of this team? No, he is not.

And Iwamura-- hitting what? .151

Russell can't ever settle on a lineup. How can player have any confidence when he continualy puts them on the bench. We don't platoon, we play musical chairs until most of our guys have no clue if they are every day players.

4 of the 8 position players did not start last night, and only ss and cf are in the same place defensively.

I'd like to know why Pearce isn't playing.

LaRoche and Crosby are a wash at 3B because neither can hit.

We have no one who can hit to play SS.

Doumit needs a shrink so playing JJ at least helps the fact the we have a Catcher who can catch the ball.

Playing Church is an automatic out.

By adding Pearce, that at least gives another player in the lineup a chance to hit besides Jones and Cutch. And with the way Jones and Cutch have been recently they are no guarantees.

And facing Derek Lowe..........well, can you say shutout?

Agree on both counts.

PS: My hope for playing Aki at 2B at this point is just borrowed time until Walker gets here.

I literally refuse to watch (until the young cavalry arrives) if Aki is hitting in the leadoff spot. I have better things to do tonight.

Can anyone explain to me why the fvck this game is blacked out on mlb.tv in the Los Angeles market?

Maybe the FCC has determined that Aki's AB's aren't fit to be watched by anyone?

I have to say, I am getting really sick of watching Doumit drop balls. He does it several times a game now. I know his bat has been OK at times this year, but sheesh. He is one bad catcher.

FSN Pittsburgh has crap scheduled for tonight. The only thing I can figure out is Fox is broadcasting nationally the Phils/Boston game which started at 7:00 EST.

Good question, better answer.

"Grounded out to catcher" has to be one of the most ignominious ways of getting out.

The Pirates have to be the only team that will get a ton of walks and not convert them into runs to make the other team pay.

And, Bobby Crosby sucks.

Pirates are so far 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position. Keep it up Buccos.

And so we'll get the starting pitching squared away. The Bullpen is solid. We'll still lose because.......

THE OFFENSE STINKS!
