For those of you around the country, this MIGHT be your Friday Game on MLB Network. Or you get Yankees Sox. Since I have YES here, I get the Buccos.

Memo to JR:

Don't start Ryan Church when Chris Carpenter is pitching.

Mental mistakes killed us! And Aki really need something done with him. He isn't hitting or playing the field well. We had the go ahead run in the 9th out by a good bit, but he missed the tag.

I agree Ryann. Perfect throw by Doumit. Aki totally blew the tag. He had plenty of time to make a good tag. He should be benched.

One can only guess what gets said/insinuated between the players in the clubhouse....but I hope these guys don't start pointing fingers at each other.

Aki did NOT blow the tag. He put the tag down exactly as he should. Give credit to the baserunner for pulling back his hand and sliding around the tag.

ZM,

Aki even admitted that he blew the tag. I watched the play at least two times in slow motion. Yes give credit to the Cardinal for switching his hands to avoid the tag. But Aki was down staring at his hands with the ball in his gove with plenty of time to sweep his glove back to make the correction for the out.

I don't really care what Aki said after the game. His actions were textbook. Sometimes you do things exactly the right way, but still lose.

sisy,

If Joe Mather had enough wits about him during the slide to switch hands going into 2B, Aki indeed saw it and had the time and he should have also had the wits about him to tag the correct hand.
