I've got no visual on the game so I am relying on updates to follow the progress.

McCutchen is putting the ball on a T right now. Edmonds drives a double to the deepest part of the field.

Need 5 or 6 from McCutchen today to be followed by Meek, Hanrahan, Donnelly and Dotel. Best chance that we have of winning . . . .

Baserunning blunder by Jones. He didn't score from third (didn't try) on a slooooooow roller to SS. Ugh.

More grist for the anti-pitcher in the #8 slot but I'd submit that, if Cedeno was up, they'd walk him to get to Cutch anyway. No harm.

And Braun, of all players...jacks a three-run shot. Sweet. Goodnight folks.

I think that's coaching. I complained last season about Beasley and his conservative handling of runners at third. He held Jones on the previous ball to the outfield and then didn't coach or send Jones on the slow grounder.

I argue again that when you're the inferior team you must try to make things happen. Make the other guy play well to get you out. Instead we stay with the hope that the pitcher will bring him in.

Now the big question for me is who is going to hit the big 2-run HR for the Pirates to boost their worthless stats. I love the guy, I really do but I have a feeling it will be Doumit...

From DK's blog...

Quote:
2:25: The crowd is not big, but it's booing very loudly now.

2:37: Wow. Booing the pierogies when they came out. That's a first.

3:07: It's 16-0. What we are seeing here is nothing less than the worst game the Pirates have played at PNC Park. And it probably goes back well before that. An utter, complete humiliation.
