The game is on the MLB Network today so I'm DVR'ing it. What are the chances of me isolating myself from the cell phone/computer world and not seeing a peek at the score? :o

Milledge and Cedeno sit out. Okay, I guess. Crosby and Church need to stay sharp. Seems kind of early to rest a SS and a LF'er, however. Cedeno is actually putting up some good at-bats, and Milledge has put up some very solid AB's as well.

Oh well.

I would have liked to see LaRoche in the 6th spot, Crosby 7th, and Young 9th with todays lineup

Also, if you're going to rest Clement, why not rest him against the lefty?

That Dodger lineup is WEAK.

Rough outing for Maholm. I'm okay with the 2 runs, but walked the leadoff batter in the 4th on 4 pitches and walked the pitcher with 2 outs (and a runner on).

Just a crap game by the Pirates so far. The stupid shift led to Furcal's (Erkel's?) "double," which was nothing more than a fly ball to left. Three Pirate errors. Laroche fans with bases loaded, one out.

Just one of those games. Oh well, can't win them all.

"fans" implies that he swung.

I thought the strike three on LaRoche was inside. That being said, I had little faith he would have gotten a hit anyway.

At least Crosby is 2-2 along with his 2 errors.

This was probably discussed in the offseason when I was tuned out, but can someone please explain why we're paying Bobby Crosby $5 mil to be the backup SS? It's not like he's going to be an instrumental part of the next contending team, he's 30 years old, and he's just as bad as Jack offensively. That signing feels like Matt Morris Lite.

Would you prefer Bixler?

$5 million? The contract is $1M with about 500K in incentives.

Got my info from ESPN at the following link (it says 2009 salaries, but this is obviously the 2010 team):

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/teams/salaries?team=pit

Please tell me that the folks at ESPN just got this wrong.

They did. I think those are the terms of last year's contract with Oakland. See here:

The good news is, Hayden Penn's ERA is only 81.00.
