We should CC some strikeouts in the early going.

Not so fast, Ralphie.

Cutch singles.
Cedeno doubles.
Milledge singles, Cutch scores
Garrett Jones three-run HR.

Then a double by Crosby later in the inning. Nice job, Bucs.

Here we go with control problems again. Morton gets behind the first two batters and then on a 2-1 pitch gives up a HR to Nick Johnson. Need to throw strikes Charlie. Let your stuff work for you.

He actually got a big K for the second out of the inning, but then got behind Swisher 3-1 and he paid with another RBI single.

Bucs lead 4-2, but I did not like what I saw from Charlie a day after Maholm was shaky with his control as well.

Morton had a nice 2nd. 1-2-3.

Top of third
Garrett Jones (MLB boxscore is wrong) with a bloop double. LaRoche singles him in.
5-2 Bucs

Clement walks. CC gone.

Looks like Sabathia just doesn't have it any more.

Morton gives up another HR to Johnson. Then walks Posada. Then a 6-4-3 DP. The Jekyll & Hyde act continues.

Future trivia question: Who got the first professional hit off of Strasburg?
Answer: Mt Lebanon's own Don Kelly

What happens when you walk the bases loaded? You pay, Brian Burres.

6-6 tie.

Pitchers who won't or can't consistently throw strikes will not pitch in the majors, unless such pitcher is Nolan Ryan or somebody akin to Ryan.

Pirates do not have Nolan Ryan on the staff. If the pitchers don't throw strikes, fall behind, walk guys, etc., then such pitchers are destined for Indianapolis.

However, please, please, please, please, please, please, PLEASE remember - spring training stats mean zip.

True. But nothing wrong with "Work fast. Throw strikes. Change speeds."

I've seen this movie before.

I agree Bucfan, but even if you are working on your stuff, if you can't throw a three-ball strike, then you got problems. I would rather see a pitcher in the spring give up 10 straight hits then walk one guy.

Bucs pile in on the 9th including a single smoked by Pedro. In the bottom of the inning, Pedro made a nice barehand play to throw out a speedy Yankee runner. Good to see some defense from him as well.
