I see there is no game thread. Shitty play breeds complacency I suppose. Anyhow I just wanted to make a comment about Andy L getting caught in a run down between third and home ON A HIT AND RUN in the 4th. Problem is there was no hit, a K to be exact, and one out.

Oh, about that comment: WTF!?!?!?!

John Russell does some things that make me grind my teeth.

One of them was just on display. Runners first and third, one out, pitcher up, have him bunt.

Let the freaking guy hit. "Oh, he might hit into a double play." Good Lord, the "strategy" is to have him make an out, and we are worried about two? And so what if he hits into a double-play. Have the leadoff batter start the next inning and go to work.

The hit and run thing was just stupid, by the way. This is a guy you don't believe can hit the ball hard enough to get the runner home from third with one out, so we should have the runner on the move and entrust the entire inning to the pitcher's ability to hit the ball??

Damn, have the guy swing away. If he hits a grounder, it is probably a dribbler and not hit hard enough to turn two. And maybe he actually hits a fly ball.

Bucfan, do you think Andy was supposed to be going on the pitch? If so JR is beyond head scratching.

Just got back from walking the dogs...see that the score is tied at 2. Would anyone like to give me a report on how Hart has looked?

I'd like for somebody who may have more baseball intelligence than I do to explain to me a reason why Milledge doesn't bunt McCutchen over to third with nobody out in a tie game other than yet another stupid decision by our stupid manager. John Russell sucks.

Not bad. Decent velocity. Needs a little work.

Probably because anyone who has ever seen him run knows that he scores from second on a single.

Its much easier to score from third than second. Horrible game managing by a horrible game manager. Again.

It was only the 5th inning with the heart of the order coming up. I have no problem with Milledge swinging away.

It's much, much easier to score from second with none out than it is from third with one out. Especially when the guy on second is one of the fastest runners in baseball.

Maybe so. It didn't work out that way however. I don't believe this team has a "heart of the order" right now. With the way our lineup is currently constructed, I believe we have to play small ball from here on to score any runs. If it means bunting in the fifth in that situation so be it.

Well, it's a good thing you're not the game manager.

We're winning this game thanks to the Diamondbacks being piss poor in the field. I don't see how these 4 runs disproves my point.

It doesn't. This does:

I suggest reading from the beginning of the chapter, which requires scrolling up.

Is the bullpen going to blow every lead the rest of the season?

The whole Donnie Veal thing is puzzling now. I understand they were trying to protect him when the season wasn't in doubt. But we all know, people are pitching for jobs now so why isn't Veal being used against lefties. He can't be any worse than the guys right now.

The thing I hate the most...the closer gets the call in a non-save situation. Let's hope Capps doesn't crapps himself.

There is no save situation for the home team in a tie game from the 9th inning on.
