Okay, I seriously dislike the "left fielder way over into the left-center gap" strategy. Just hate it.

Have hated that strategy all year long, myself. The logic behind it is flawed, and the execution hasn't made up for it.

Isn't Virgil Vazquez' claim to fame his supposedly great control? Then why the hell does he go 2-0 to a ton of hitters, bounce tons of breaking pitches, leave balls over the heart of the plate, etc.??

If he were facing any team other than the Nationals, he would have given up 6 runs by now.

Is it just me, or does Ryan Doumit look like he wants to light a candle for all of the players who have been traded?

Pirates are going to need more than 7 runs to win this game ... the Pirates pitching is being exposed in terms of Vazquez and now Karstens.

Wonder why the Pirates obtained a ton of starting pitchers in deals? Look at this game.

Jesus Christ, Ryan Doumit looks like sheeit. Moss throws a bullet on one hope, directly to Doumit and it clangs off his glove. Fortunately, the ball was too shallow for Morgan to advance.

Andy Laroche is a very good base runner. He is becoming one of my favorite players, for how much he battles in every at bat, knows the strike zone, fields his position brilliantly and runs the bases really well for a guy who is not fast.

Meanwhile, Brandon Moss runs the bases as if he is pulling a sled. The RF'er tries to get Andy going first to third on the Moss single, and Moss does not take second on the throw. He could have walked into second, since the RF'er airmailed the cut-off man.

Wow Cutch with his 3rd homer of the night and a career game. Last time this happened in Pittsburgh i was 2 months old. 11-4 Buccos!

McCutchen ... 3 HR's and a bunt single. Who is the last player to do that?

Jones gets another hit, a double. He is 2-4. The double was to LF. I like that very much. Not only is he using all of the field, he is not looking like strike out king Adam Dunn as a one dimensional Home Run hitter.

BTW, Doumit ends the inning again. Third time tonight. :?

Ramon Vazquez was going to be my hero for the game after a great catch in the 6th, however, Cutch's 3 HR night, especially after that last bomb, has earned him the hero for the night.

Doumit looks and is acting so mopey that i think i have found his new walk up song. Also he looks so sad it makes me sad.

I'm also liking Ronny Cedeno. He looks very smooth at SS. If his bat is half decent ( Average around .265 to .275), and it has been so far in two games he's played for the Bucs......I'm a happy camper!

Doumit needs to get out of this funk. Seriously. He is the starting C and crucial defensively, as well as (for now) the clean-up hitter.

If he continues to mope around and hit lazy fly balls, he can sit on the bench and watch Jaramillo catch a few games.

I think he should. He has seemed worn out since the Arizona series.

He did a good job on the grounder in the 4th (?) inning, when Delwyn Young failed to cover 2nd. He looked, saw that Young was, for some reason, not going to beat the runner to the bag, fired the ball to first, and got the batter.

His defense is good. His hitting, however, is really, really below average. [How much longer will Pirates fans have to put up with that description of their SS's??]
