I thought sure we would lose after that blown call by the umpire followed by the GIDP.

Nice to stick it to the Brewers, and very nice to be rid of Adam LaRoche.

Now let's get on a hot streak and get .500 back in our sights!

Freddy was the only starter not to get a hit today...

Here is a comparison of Maholm and the bullpen

Maholm: 4.2 innings pitched, 7 hits, 7 earned runs, 3 walks, 5 K's, and 2 homeruns.
Bullpen: 4.1 innings pitched, 3 hits, 0 earned runs, 1 walk, 6 K's, and 0 homeruns.

Great win by the Bucs! Maholm, I'm not real thrilled with though.....but a win is a win is a win!

Image

I'll take some credit since I started a thread about the offense and dared to mention "small ball".

Not to get too far ahead of ourselves though, but this win will mean nothing if they can't keep the winning going against Arizona. Let's hope they can!

Beat 'em Bucs!!!

I am going to try and make it to all 4. They are notoriously crappy here in Phoenix. I am looking forward to seeing Morton in particular tomorrow night.

I love watching him pitch. I think he could be something special, soon.

That's awesome for Moss. I really hope this is the start of a turnaround for him.

You get to see Morton, Duke and Ohlendorf in the first 3. Those guys are pretty darn good.

And P.S. - Maholm is going to straighten out in the second half.

Just realized that with the LaRoche trade, Garrett Jones -- in only 17 games -- takes over as the team leader in home runs. And Andy LaRoche becomes the new leader in RBI.

I dont know if this was already posted on here or not. If it was, I'm sorry for the repeat post.

But I was just watching the Moss walk-off HR, did anyone else notice that Young and Vazquez had their shirts untucked?

Just an observation.

GREAT JOB.
Didn't notice that. Just rewatched. Laughed my backside off. I sure hope that was done to mock the Brewers.

Good memory, Colin. On Aug. 20, 2003, the Pirates hit seven (7) at St. Louis, four of them in one inning. Reggie Sanders and Rob Mackowiak each had two, and Brian Giles, pitcher Jeff D'Amico, and -- uh -- Jason Kendall each hit one. What may stick out in your memory is that both of Sanders' HR came in the same inning and the second was a grand slam.

Watched highlights on the Pirates official site, and yes, indeed - Young and Vazquez have their jerseys untucked.

Of course the Brewers will take offense. Braun yaps at a pitcher after getting hit? No problem. Braun admires his HR? No problem. Brewers pitching intentionally drills a Pirate? Not only no problem, great job! Brewers untuck jerseys, put on a big show after winning a game? No problem.

Now, if another team does this ... Image Image
