Just to rub it in, wouldn't it have been nice to see the Pirates all untuck their jerseys?

Here is what I never understand. The milwaukee pitcher intentionally threw at Karstens. Any sentient being knows this.

His punishment? Apparently, bravos and high-fives from the Brewers in the clubhouse.

Oh, okay. If dosing a guy is good, then nailing the effing Brewers is better. Right? Yet, if a Pirate pitcher hits a brewer the rest of the series, he is gone.

Somebody is going to get hit tomorrow. Warnings can't carry over to the next game. The pitcher can be thrown out of the game, but i doubt he would be suspended in a different game. Unless baseball decides they are losing control with the Pirates and Brewers rivalry.

Right, I get that warnings don't carry over. What I don't get is why the pitcher who hands out the retribution (i.e., the Pirates pitcher) is booted, while the guy who we KNOW intentionally threw at a Pirates player has zero punishment.

He could get something this week still. Just because he didn't get tossed doesn't mean baseball wont do anything about it. If they realize it is going to keep going back and forth they will start handing out suspensions. He should have been tossed though, i agree with that.

Meanwhile, wasn't Jason Kendall's act just a bit over the top? I don't enjoy beanball wars, but, man, he'd make a tempting target if the Pirates wanted to continue this.

Yeah i agree. The catcher is susposed to settle the situation down, not make it worse. I defended Kendall actions for years when he was a Pirate. The incident that happened in Oakland sticks out in my mind, but there is an old saying "You can take the girl out of the trailer park, but you can't take the trailer park out of the girl", and that is how i am seeing Kendall now. He brings a bad image to the game, and he has for years.

I didn't like how Kendall jumped right in taking over the situation like he was the Umpiring Crew Chief or Commissioner of Baseball. Who annointed him? Kendall was looking for a confrontation. I wonder who called the pitch? I bet it was Kendall. Would any other catcher in MLB do what Kendall did? Or would they let the HP Umpire jump in and handle the situation? By the way, that's what HP Ump Wally Bell did try to do while Mr. Kendall blew up the situation.

At the same time, Karstens, in my opinion, should have just sucked it up and took first base. But what Karsten didn't do to his credit was charge the mound.

As far as I'm concerned, Kendall opened the door for him getting beaned someday down the road. And if there is a bench-clearing brawl, I won't shed a tear if Kendall gets knocked on his arse.

Two comments on this lineup:
1) I think we need to play Jaramillo once or twice a week
2) This outfield of Jones and Young is terrible defensively and is scares me

I have a bad feeling about this game, but I hope that I am wrong.

Jones isn't that bad...and Young really has not been horrible in OF...just below average.

I have seen the catcher get infront of the batter and try to talk to them to prevent him from charging the mounds. That is how it started out with Kendall, but then he started chest bumping Karstens and that is when he became the problem not the mediator.
I also think it was called by Kendall because he jumped up before Karstens ever made a move towards the mounds. It was like he knew it was coming.

I have a question on Chavez in the ninth after he had been warned at the beginning of the inning. Did he pitch inside? I went to bed and didn't see it. I noticed this morning that that goggle-eyed Braun hit a homer off him. Did it have anything to do with the inside half of the plate being taken away from Chavez?

Hey, the Pirates might have a better shot at winning if VV gets tossed in the first. Go for it!
