This one has a stink to it. Pirates are loaded with left-handed hitters against a guy who is tough on lefties, fall behind early.

I am going to get on with taking care of the lawn, getting some exercise. I just do not see any pleasure coming from this game.

Now that Hinske was dealt, Vasquez's value has gone up greatly, essentially being the only back up infielder on the team...

Jones really looks special out there. I think he could be a big future help to the team.

I don't like walking the number 8 hitter with runners on first and second, to face the pitcher with two out.

First, that strategy moves another runner into scoring position. Second, the move puts a runner on third base where he can score on an error, infield single, passed ball, or wild pitch.

Duke met with coaches and then worked around Carroll, the number 8 hitter. He threw several breaking balls in the dirt to him and was obviously not going to go after him. He walks Carroll, loading the bases, and them promptly wild pitches in the 4th Marlin run.

I certainly agree with walking the number 8 hitter with runners on second and third, but not with runners on first and second. Just did not like it when it was going on, and hope that the Pirates coaches say "eff that" in the future. I suspect, however, that they are convinced it was great strategy just gone awry.

It is great that he is hitting. He has produced more offense for the team than Morgan for the Nationals. If he keeps hitting with power and drawing some walks, he is going to be good enough to keep the position warm.

I think as a team we have hit more homers over the last months than almost the whole season before that.

I agree. Sometimes, guys like this just need a chance.
