Our best pitcher and best players on the field (Except I rather see Delwyn instead of Moss).
This is a huge series.

Young has a big game Saturday, sits Sunday in favor of Hinske, sits Monday in favor of Moss. I would prefer Young over Moss but can live with that decision. What I don't understand is why you play Hinske on Sunday if you know you'll be going with Moss on Monday? In my opinion Young deserves to start on either of those two days.

It's payback time. I hope the Pirates feel the same way. Time to take it to the Cubs and womp 'em.

Moss went 0-5 against the Royals in two games. Still waiting on him to make a statement. Between Moss, Hinske, and Young I'll take Young in RF.

You can't make a statement if you don't play regularly.

I know that I suffer from early onset Alzheimer's but weren't the Buccos in a similar situation with the Cubs - record wise - the last 2 times these teams played? I seem to recall that a sweep would have put the Bucs ahead of them and taking 2/3 would have essentially put them at the same record. Let's hope for a win in Game #1 and stop the losing trend to NL Central teams.

If our Buccos were merely 14-17 against NL Central teams (not very good), their overall record would be a much more impressive 39-36. They've really dropped the ball against teams in their division and on the road. No better time than the present to reverse course. The Flubs are ripe for the picking.

Each series and I guess game seems to be more important then the last. This one seems to be a possible turning point.

We're home and we should be ready to do that pay back thing.

Go Bucs

Part of the reason the Pirates are winning a bit more cleanly this year is the defense.

Moss contributes to that defense in a very positive way. Neither Hinske nor Delwyn do, and Delwyn can kill you in the field.

If Moss wasn't hitting, I play Delwyn more, but he is hitting at about a .350 clip now since June 1, so run him out there against righties at least.

I can deal with Moss. Hinske over Young is another matter. I'm not too sure that Hinske is even marginally better than Young in the OF. That super spectacular, awsomely awesome, diving "catch" Hinske pulled off in yesterday's game was all I needed to see. And to think I once questioned Nyjer's route ability. Aye Carumba!!

We have stunk against the NL Central. Time to start being competitive with those teams. Why not now?

I'm worried that this start could be the one that turns things around for Rich Harden.

I agree with your statement. Valid point. The question is, "How much does Young cost on defense, as compared to his hitting?"

If Moss hits even a bit - say, .330 OBP and .420 slugging - then it is close. However, with his .636 OPS, Moss' good defense cannot merit play time over a guy hitting like Young (.333./409/.431).
