Good Lord Jones, you need to work the count better than one effing pitch.

I don't mind pulling Cole. All hands on deck, the Pirates need runs.

Jones is a complete waste. But beyond that, why pull Cole? Why not just move Barmes to 2nd? If we've ever been Hurdled this year, it was just now.

Yep, bad move by Clint. Should have bunted over Barmes and played for the run. Cole would still be in the game and no double play.

First pitch Garrett? Thank you for your time as a Pirate. Good luck in your next endeavor.

I don't either. Cole could have made that out himself.

That's just it...once Barmes reached why not just bunt him to second with Cole and keep him out there humming. You get nothing and lose your ace...

You only need two runs. You get one that inning and you are one swing away from tying it. Plus you keep you ace in the game.

Sure would have been nice to see Tabata and the .847 OPS he posted over the last two months at some point instead of riding out Marte's 1-18 streak when he didn't perform as well as Tabata since coming off of the DL.

(And this isn't reactionary, I have been saying it on the board for a couple days now)

Jones hit it in the gap, just with too much lift.

Marte is frustrating to watch at the plate though.

Popped up the 2-0 count and GDP... Come on, dude!

The 'he's not really a lead off hitter' thing is rearing its head.

The Bucs are still in this; they can absolutely come back!

The bottom and top of the order needs to deliver though.

I'll take my chance with the best bullpen in baseball.

I am not really worried about the bullpen. You sacrifice and you take away the double play, get a man in scoring position and get two shots to get him in. The bonus is Cole can stay in the game. You have to weigh the risk and reward. Bad decision by Hurdle.

Might have been Jones last at-bat as a Pirate.

If you're going to take out Cole, you don't put Jones up there. Tabata or Harrison or anyone else really would have been better.

In fairness, that's about as tailor-made a situation for Jones as it gets. Right handed pitcher and him being the tying run. As horrible an AB as it was, I don't mind the move at all.

And that is why you don't pull your ace for a now mediocre hitter after 5 innings in a fucking 2 run game.
