Eh...

Considering the situation, no.

The Bucs were clearly looking to get as much as they could out of Cumpton, who was pitching capably enough until that sixth.

Hurdle could have PH him B5 and gone Maz or Mo (or actually maybe J-Wil to face Gonz and Ethier), but he had no reason not to try and get one more out of Cumpton vs. a R-heavy (after Gonz/Ethier) lineup.

You'd like to see the Bucs try and maximize their chances to win a game they were unlikely to and where mistakes will cost them, but knowing those were the stakes this was an expected outcome.

I've been stewing over that ever since it happened. Now the Pirates are down two in the eleventh, and it looks like he's going to end up costing his teammates a win.

Everybody hustled on that play except McCutchen. I get sick every time I hear the announcers talk about the way Andrew always hustles. It just isn't so. If I were Hurdles I'd be sitting his ass tomorrow.

We've had a lot of base running errors. Glad we got one, but really wish we could stop leaving base runners on board.

I think it would have been an extremely close play at the plate if McCutchen would have went for it. I wouldn't call it a base running error at all...

how about Cumpton!!! he has struck out 5 of the 6 batters he has faced.

There wouldn't have even been a throw.

I wouldn't call it a base running error, either. I call it laziness. There is no excuse for a failure to go all out.

Very discouraging loss. Great comeback, but to nill. Not a big fan of Mazzaro.

How many did we leave on base? All I know for certain it was too many.

Also anyone else take exception with Martin being held at 3rd? With 2 outs, I would have sent him. I'd be more understanding of holding him with 1 out or less.
