Starling Marte is a late scratch. Snider now in LF and batting lead-off. Jones in RF, Inge at 3B, and Alvarez now at DH.

I would prefer Alvarez 3B and Inge DH. Alvarez has been amazing lately on defense.

Let's hope Liriano is tossing darts today.

Martin base hit to left. He hit an outside fastball to the opposite field. That makes me soooooo excited.

After not getting the inside strike call against Walker in the 1st, the ump is giving Verlander strikes off the outside corner in the 2nd.

I try not to play the bad ump/referee card very often but this is ridiculous already today. Verlander has the biggest strike zone I've seen in a long, long time. It's Greg Maddux-like.

Verlander gets the superstar strike zone there in the 2nd inning. gets sanchez looking, then first base ump calls inge out on an appeal to first.

If Liriano gets that outside corner, too, this could be a quick game.

These are perhaps the laziest designed special uniforms I've seen. Just the normal uniforms with "camouflage" over the lettering and numbers which just makes them look faded from the sun.

Note for future reference: Justin Verlander (un)intentionally walked Russell Martin to pitch to Pedro Alvarez... then struck him out a second time. Pedro can't be the kind of hitter that pitchers want to face with guys on base. He's gotta become more consistently dangerous.

I accept Pedro is going to strike out......a lot. But with Verlander on the mound and 2 men on base, how does he not get the bat off his shoulder to avoid a called 3rd strike? You don't get many of those opportunities with Verlander. You have to at least take a swing at it with 2 strikes.
