Let's hope that they can take advantage of a struggling Edwin Jackson. That means he'll probably magically find his stuff and throw a 2 hit CG shutout.

McKenry has been working on his throwing and gunned a runner last game. Hope he can contol the running game today.

I hope they can start hitting. All the winning is great but it makes me nervous when the offense is so weak. Makes me fear Collapse III.

Not thrilled with the quiet bats over the past week, agreed.

However, Jeff Locke, Liriano and (relatively soon) Morton, Karstens and probably Cole mean that both the quality of the SP'ing and the depth are vastly superior to what the team had in 2011 or 2012.

Meaning, while the 2011 or 2012 Pirates would lose 4 out of 5 games where their offense was not clicking due to the questionable back-end of the starting pitching, this version seems like it will compete.

He didn't get enough credit for his improved defense last game. He was solid, both in terms of controlling the running game and handling pitches. I think he can be capably average behind the plate if he focuses on that part of his game.

Pedro's never met a slider in the dirt that he doesn't want to hack.

A fantastic 30 pitch inning for Jackson. Hello Cubs bullpen!

That was a fun inning. Love the running. Helped score two runs. Too bad Pedro couldn't add an exclamation point on it, but we will take 2.

I hope the Pirates knock him around good today. All because of him basically tell the Pirates to go F themselves last off season...

Was just going to post how Jackson has been decent recently, and I realized that the game started at noon:35. And the Bucs are already up 2-0.

Hate that. I'm hoping it goes away over time. That's really his only hope, as I don't imagine he'll start making contact at an appreciably higher rate.

Let's find those bats before Milwaukee!
