They are out to try to pound Paul tonight.

I'd switch McKenry and Martin in the lineup though.

Pedro could use the off day and all, but the Bucs need a better solution than Martin at third.

Why on Earth would you sit a streaky hitter like Pedro after two HRs in two games?

Maholm is a lefty, has been dominant all year and Pedro hasn't had an off day this year.

I would wait until he goes cold before sitting him.

If Kdro is a streaky hitter and has now found his timing, perhaps it is the right call to not have a lefty like Maholm mess up his newly discovered timing (although he did K 3 times last night).

I'd be more worried the night off would throw him off. It's not like he's never homered off a lefty before.

IA, I looked at that ERA you have there for JMac and said to myself that can't be right. Sure enough I checked and his ERA 5.27.

Actually 5.27 is lower than I thought it would be...

Other than the one bad outing he hasn't been too terrible. He's really no different than one Pedro Alvarez...very streaky. Love the good, accept the bad.

You have a pitcher who is struggling terribly starting tonight.

So let's play the veteran catcher that you brought in for his defense and game calling out at third.

Not only can you take away any benefit he provides behind the plate, but you can also weaken your infield defense.

I really hate our manager.

I don't mind this. The Pirates need to score runs. I'm more confident having McKenry in the lineup today than Alvarez.

If anything they wasted his strong start vs. the Cubs.

Still, the thought of him facing the likes of Heyward and the Uptons does not inspire confidence...

So long as he's decent (as he was vs. AZ) it will be good enough.

You know Maholm is going to two-hit us. Even if he was coming in with a 12.50 ERA, he would two-hit us.

Actually, the fact that he's coming in with a 0.00 ERA is why I expect the opposite to happen. I would anticipate that an ex-Pirate would bounce back against us if he had been struggling badly, but with being perfect so far I kind of expect the Pirates to get him.

You'll recall that when the subject of hitting a Reds batter for retaliation from last year was brought up, I was against it because I am not going to give such a great line-up a free man on base. Well, same case here with perhaps even better Braves line-up. This right here is why.*

* Following on Gameday, so I assume McDonald hitting Gattis there was in response to Marte getting beaned?

Marte wasn't beaned, low and inside ball hit him on the top of the foot. That's all

Thanks. Given that we then hit their lead-off hitter the next inning I thought it might have been some back and fourth.
