Okay now... Martin 2nd over Sky? Hurdle is trying to piss people off.

---

Also, way to harsh a buzz showing the Soriano vs. Cutch covers. GREAT omen... :D

Last night they posted a stat that Martin has played more games and innings than any other catcher since 2007. Iron Man of sorts.

Also, missed it at first glance... WHY is Tabata starting over Snider???

If Barmes is planning on hitting above his weight this year, he better plan on going on a diet. maybe get down to about a buck eighty.

I'm so torn. Do I watch the game on TV or go to the White Sox/Royals game? Ugh. I love the Pirates like non other but MLB in person is simply amazing, even the Royals.

McDonald's statistical anomally

2011 ERA - 4.21
2012 ERA - 4.21
2012 FIP - 4.21
2012 xFIP - 4.21

I'm gonna guess he posts an ERA around 4.21 in 2013 :D

Do we have a sane argument for Neil hitting 6th yet? I've stopped obsessing because it was bad for my blood pressure. I just keep telling myself that batting order really isn't that important which is statistically true, but geez.

Maybe a reminder that his injury probably was the difference between a 79 win team and an 82 win team?

I'll be honest, I don't really mind. I didn't respond to some of the posts earlier about GI Jones in the two spot but I really like the move. He'll get more fastballs to hit with McCutchen's protection after him. Against righties I'll take Jones over Walker any day. I'll be honest, I think Walker may be the best option to lead off than anyone on the team.

I'd still trying leading Cutch off to get him the most at-bats I could and get him scoring runs.

Cutch
Walker
Marte
Pedro
Jones
whoever

Shake things up!

I don't mind Jones 2nd either, but putting your 2nd best obp hitter (and overall hitter) 6th is mind boggling to me. He already got IBB #1 last night.

True, but why follow those conventions but then bat Walker 6th? Also, small sample size , but Snider had a 1.110 OPS in 2012 vs. L's to Pumas .700ish...

J-Mac's first curveball was a big-breaking beauty. He broke it off at 74 mph for a strike. Keep that going...

And, of course, J-Mac proceeded to walk the lead-off man. Fantastic.

If his curveball is working, he can be very effective.

Can't get the video to work, but from the broadcast sounds like he's giving up a lot of flies.

I hear the shift is on for Alvarez, which is odd because he go the other way.
