Hello Friends:

I am staying. I live 56 miles inland and Ike will probably hit Galveston which is to the Northeast of me.

He will probably only be a Category II, but the storm surge will be huge, possibly 20 feet or more. Galveston's seawall BTW is only 17 feet. The NWS has basically issued a "certain death" warning to island residents who don't leave.

I have nowhere to evacuate too, and I own a Saturn ION with an 11.5 gallon tank. Don't feel like heading off to God knows where with no final desitination.

We in Fort Bend County will probably endure high winds and rain, but if the storm surge gets as far inland as me, then we will need an ark (HA HA).

My friend Mike lives closer to Houston. He and I are staying in touch and will look after each other if need be. For instance, if one of us loses power, then he can go stay with the other one, assuming he has power too.

So I am hunkering down, taping the windows tomorrow, pulling everything that can become airborne into the garage and am going to wait. I have bottled water, candles, and non perishable food. I also have a propane grill in case I have no power for a few days. Also Old Bessy is ready if I need her (Turkey shot instead of buck).

Thanks for the conern my friends. Maybe spare a few prayers for Galveton. This looks a lot uglier for them than for us down in Fort Bend County.

Times like these when you realize how un-important the fortunes of a certain miserable baseball franchise is. Hey, I am hoping I have a home and a tv next spring to even watch Bucco Baseball :). Lately the rancor has gotten really hostile on this board (and I have been one of the causes, and for that I aplogize) and the debate has gotten hot. Let's tone it back.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers guys.

Take Care
Bob

I have no concept of what it must be like to be in your situation. I will keep you in my prayers.

Saying a prayer for you Corsair...makes the troubles of our Pirates and my Cyclones seem very small. I look forward to hearing good news from you...
