Was watching a news show about the dreaded Arizona Immigranr law in the SC right now. How do people in your state feel about it? Is there a racial aspect to it? Is it working? From whose perspective?

You have the law 1070, that was pushed through the state leg. by Russell Pearce (since voted out of office in a special recall election) and his band of extreme rightwingers along with Gov. Jan Brewer. It was in response to the perception that the feds are not doing their job as far as protecting the borders. In my mind, jmho, that it is racially motivated in that it is directed towards hispanic illegal immigrants. Has it worked? Well, it was reported that there are 1 mil less latin immigrants in the US from it's high point. It has "worked" here in AZ. in that many have left the state for other states or gone back south of the border. My opinion that most of this is due to the economic downturn and the lack of jobs available, contruction, etc. The extreme right wing here panders to the fear factor that these immigrants in some way threaten their perception of what America should be.

Just my humble opinion. Not trying rattle any cages. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
