Cool stuff, courtesy of a live webcam from Decorah, IA. One hatched yesterday, another just a few minutes ago. One egg remains. You can watch the mother feeding the babies, too. The number of people following online at any given time is in excess of 100,000.

The URL, if any of y'all would like to check it out:

Thanks, Bob! We will watch this. My kid loves these cams. She watches the panda cam at the D.C. Zoo.

We have a peregrine falcon nest under a closeby bridge. Every year I and other bird brains wait for the babies to leave the nest.
Another peregrine nest is at Cleveland's Terminal Tower. It's usually on a cable access chanel. There's a bald eagle nest in the
Metropark but it's well hidden.

Thanks Bob.

There are now some Bald Eagles along the Ohio River where we live. That is a very recent development and is the result of years of cleaning up the river water. When I was a kid (50 years ago) fishing in the river was for either Cat or Carp because no other fish could live in the toxic waters. There are Bass, Bluegill, and other game fish now thriving and serving as a valuable food source for nature's birds. Now Ospry, Greese, and Eagles are seen around the shore lines. The cleaning of the river was necessary because we as a society had for years used it as a garbage can for all kinds of things including poisons that were just causually thrown away.

Amazing what the EPA caused to happen and now some want to just throw it away and go back to the old ways because it costs too much. AMAZING-- Surely, we won't go back to that, will we?

FWIW, the third egg hatched Wednesday evening. Fascinating to see the eaglet work its way out of the shell. The mother just got out of the way and let it happen, making no move to help.

A guy in the town where i grew up, Fred Evans, worked for NY Fish and game and was personally responsible for the return of the bald eagle on the Allegheny River in the southern tier of WNY. He was also greatly involved in the return of the wild turkey population in the same area. 8-) 8-) 8-)
