Interesting, but presupposes that certain payments can be reduced by no more than 5%. Cut pay for fed employees by 7.5%, and reduce the retirement and medical benefits for all new hires. That alone would make a HUGE dent in the deficit. Hundreds of billions per year, and with savings that would burgeon in coming years.
Currently, federal employees have to pay NOTHING into retirement to get a very generous retirement plan at age 60 while the rest of us work to age 67 so that we get just enough to eat dog food, and pay NOTHING for medical insurance. Who the hell besides government employees pay nothing for medical insurance and retirement?
Enough. The gravy train has reached its final station and is no longer taking passengers aboard.
