 Post subject: I'm disappointed in MLB Network . . .

. . . or at least with whoever produced its feature Sunday night on the nine best play-by-play announcers in history. Don't understand why Phil Rizzuto, Curt Gowdy, Harry Kalas, and even Harry Caray get to be on the list and Bob Prince does not.

The others, in no particular order (for those who didn't watch the show): Mel Allen, Red Barber, Jack Buck, Ernie Harwell, and -- as you might imagine -- Vin Scully.

Curt Gowdy did games for NBC television when I was growing up. I also know he did a ton of other sports, most noteably, football.

Was he a regular play-by-play guy for any major league team?

I believe he did play by play for many years for the Boston Red Sox. :oops: :oops: :oops:

I know it's my inner homer thinking/feeling this, but I can't take any list seriously that didn't include the recently deceased Dave Niehaus on it.
