My wife's Kansas City debut yesterday. She's going from the #3 station in Omaha to the #1 ABC affiliate...in the country! Needless to say, she was a little nervous!

She did a great job. Are you in KC with her yet?

I'm in Omaha until our house sells. I'm not too confident about the speed in which this will take place...

Best of luck. Just remember that it could be worse. My coworker has been trying to sell his house in Seattle for the past 2 years. In the meantime he's renting it out at below-mortgage cost (i.e., the rent income is not covering his mortgage payments) while he's renting a home for his family here in Jersey.

I also have a friend who is now living in Erie, PA but has a house in Seattle and is in the exact same situation.

IA -
I feel for you. The transition of my practice from the Chicago area to Des Moines has worked out great for me (both client-wise and bottom line wise) but we put our house in the western 'burbs of Chicago on the market in March '09. It closed in May '10. Not a fun process. The market in that area tanked - badly. The foreclosures and short sales around us absolutely destroyed market value. Sold the house for 33% less than the last sale in the neighborhood. But, after 14 months of commuting 290 miles back and forth on weekends, it is now over.

I suggest that you delay your move to KC until at least after September 10th. You know what I mean. :D

Will you become a Chiefs fan? I'm guessing that Ollie, Az and I are in the running for the "Worst Combination of Favorite Sports Teams." I'm a Pirates/Chiefs fan. Az is Pirates/Bills. Ollie is Pirates/Lions. Bad combinations for all of us . . . .

Good luck and I hope that you'll be making the trip to IC on 9/10/10. Maybe ISU will finally score a TD this year . . . although Ferentz's defense this year is going to be incredible.
