BE football and the remainder of Big 12 should get together. Or, at a minimum BE asks KU, Mizzou to join, but I would take Tech and Baylor as well.

Why is all this happening? Is there something wrong with the Big 12?

Long story short...Texas owns the world and doesn't want to give up any pieces of its pie. Nebraska has really felt left behind since the Big 12 began in 1996. My numbers are off but you'll get the idea...Texas made around $40 million from the conference and Nebraska around $15 million. Between that and Nebraska hasn't won anything in over a decade...see ya. Colorado saw the writing on the wall and did what's best for them and bolted for the Pac 10. All hell is about to break loose.

The BE would have to split off the basketball schools. That's the only way that would work.

St Johns, Georgetown, Seton Hall, Villanova, Depaul, Notre Dame, Marquette, Providence. Not a bad basketball conference on it's own. I think all catholic schools too. Don't know if ND would hang though.

I don't get any of this.

I know it's all about the $$$, but when looking at this otherwise it's compeltely non sensical.

If there's going to be 'seismic change', why not make it more logical? Make each 'super conference' regional.

For example, something I posted on another forum a few months back:

Quote:
Pac-10 (14): (WA, ID, OR, CA)
NORTH/EVERGREEN:
Boise State
Hawaii
Idaho
Oregon
Oregon State
UW
WSU

SOUTH/CALI:
Cal
Fresno State
SDSt
SJSU
Stanford
UCLA
USC

MWC (14): (AZ, CO, UT, NV, WY, NM, TX)
WEST/DESERT:
AZ
ASU
BYU
Nevada
UNLV
Utah
Utah State

EAST/ROCKIES:
Air Force
Colorado
Colorado State
New Mexico
NMSU
UTEP
Wyoming

Big 12 (14): (TX, OK, KS, MO)
SOUTH/TEXAS:
Baylor
Houston
Rice
Texas
TAMU
TX Tech
TCU

NORTH/DUST BOWL:
KS
KSt
MO
OK
OK St
SMU
Tulsa

Big 10 (14): (IL, IN, IA, MI, MN, NE, OH, PA, WS)
NORTH/WEST:
Illinois
Iowa
Iowa State
Minnesota
Nebraska
Wisconsin
Northwestern

SOUTH/EAST:
Indiana
Michigan
Michigan State
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue

WAC is gone, CUSA merges w/ Sun Belt or syphons it's teams to other conferences. Each Conference makes two seven-team divisions; winners are auto bids to a playoff and the best of the rest fill out the eight-team playoff.

What is left is regional football... And rivalry city, baby.

I guess you don't think Pitt will be playing college sports anymore?

If this was directed at me, then my answer is:

I'm a West Coaster.

I love SEC football and Big East Basketball, so I don't want either to change. And I couldn't care less about the ACC.

I could make up a hypothetical 'regional' conference alignment for the SEC/ACC/Big East (and/or combine them), but I quite honestly don't care as much about them because there is 0% chance of any of the East Coast schools coming into the Pac-10 and ruining it like Texas and OU are trying to do.

The Big 12 has a pulse...wow! For a university like Iowa State this would be a windfall of money. They only made a little over $7 million in TV revenue last season. With the new deal they would be guaranteed anywhere from $14 to $17 million. Nice!

You better hope that Baker is right on this. From what I'm reading, this may be Iowa State's last gasp. There are contrary reports indicating from "multiple sources" that it is all but done that at least 4 teams from Big 12 defect to Pac 11.

I stand by my original thoughts. I think that the Big 12 will ultimately dissolve and Delaney is going to make some sort of push designed to force ND to join the Big 10.

If Beebe somehow salvages the Big 12, then Delaney's hopes to get ND would be, IMO, far more difficult. He would have to try to get commitments from at least Rutgers, Syracuse and potentially Pitt to cause ND any pause.

Big 12 SAVED!!!! Wow! Talk about best-case scenario for my Cyclones! New TV deal negotiated...Texas, Oklahoma, and A&M get around $25 million and the rest get around $17 million. The caveat is each individual school can still have its own network, i.e. the Longhorn network. I just heard Andy Katz just say that this opens the door for...Notre Dame. This is the type of deal the Irish wanted but the Big 10 wouldn't budge.

The ND thing is just a rumor, it's just extremely juicy.

Is this official? I've read some speculative reports but just checked ESPN and both the ISU and Texas Rivals sites and see nothing official yet.

If so . . . big sigh of relief for ISU . . . things were not looking so good over the last 2 weeks.

Do you have confidence that Texas is committed to the Big 12 for the long haul?
Beebe could go from potential goat to hero if he can convince ND to join Big 12.

I sure hope the Big-12 stays put.

If so, then my only question becomes:

What will the new conferences be called???

Will it still be the Pac-10?

The 'Big-12' is now only 10... so will it be called the Big-10?

But the original 'Big-10' now has 12 teams... so they'll be the 'new Big-12'???

:?
