.............I think the last new music I bought was the last Raconteurs (sp?). I have found that XM Sirius meets most of my needs and have found that I just love 59 the Underground Garage channel. They play a song "Land of the Freak" by a band, King Kahn and the Shrines. As luck would have it, my bike broke a spoke on the way home yesterday rendering it nearly un-rideable. The Schwinn shop is only 2-3 blocks off the route so I limped into the shop and left it to be fixed. To kill time, I went over to one of my best friends music store, East Side Records and was killing time. Ended up buying the album by them entitled "The Secret Genius of" and went home and listened to it 3 times. I guess I like it. Closest I can compare it to is "Full House" era J. Geils Band. Big, cranking, moving, horn fueled stuff. Heck, I got it on now. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Speaking of XM, have you got notice of a "royalty" fee added on to your bill?

If so, challenge it, and you can get it removed.

If you're into new music, I highly recommend this site:

http://freealbums.blogsome.com/

The deal is that he reviews an album a day which is available for free download on the internet. It's basically bands who are signed to net labels or use creative commons licensing so that their albums are available to be downloaded or listened to for free.

I've found some real gems on there. There are also bands from all genres on there so it isn't a site which is just streamlined into one type of music. One of my favorites from this month was Boxing Fox, a German ska/punk/reggae band who sounds kind of like Reel Big Fish. A lot of power from the horn section.
