I've been reading the forum for most of this season, but just registered.

As evidenced by my user name, I'm a WNY resident and a life long Pirates fan.

I grew up in Buffalo while the Buccos had their AAA affiliate there (playing in the Rock Pile downtown), and the Pirates brain tattoo never wore off, for better or worse.

As for the Pirates themselves, the last time I made it to Pittsburgh for a game was the 3 game set against the Cubbies when they closed 3 Rivers. It was a great series, and well worth being there for. I'm hoping to make it down next year the see the "new" ballpark, but it hasn't been in the cards yet.

As for being an "apologist" or a "hater", I guess I fall more on the "realist" side (aka "apologist"). I'm excited for the future, but definitely sick of all the losing. Working and living with nothing but BoSox and Yankees fans (as well as the rare Tribe fan), I'm always impressed with the interest those folks take in our team. Granted, it's lately been questions about "who are you grooming for us this year", but, it still allows me to discuss our roster and prospects. Better than nothing, eh?

Unfortunately, Indy doesn't play in Buffalo or Rochester again this year, and Altoona is about 6 hours from me, so I won't be able to put any eyes on our boys this season. Definitely will be catching as many Indy games as i can next year though.

Anyways, carry on. This, for the most part, is an intelligent collection of baseball fans here, and I've learned a lot already this year. Thanks all!

Kevin from Rochester

Welcome Rochester.

You might consider coming down to State College for a game. Rochester should be about 3 hrs to there, from myrecollection of the roads.

Hi there, Rochester!

Really, Indianapolis doesn't play at Rochester or Buffalo? Another unbalanced schedule I guess.

I know a boy (college intern at work) who is currently attending R.I.T. That kid is so smart. They have a top notch hockey program as you may well know!

They were here earlier this year (Indy), but I was out of town. Surprised it's just one series.

As for R.I.T., they have a great hockey program, and they are a ton of fun to watch.

Thanks to the incredible tuition (by that, I mean astronomical) the R.I.T. campus is a real pleasure to visit. Unreal what they've done with it in the last 10 years. And they continue to gobble up the surrounding real estate.
