I recently purchased Voodoo Child, The Jimi Hendrix Collection. It has some previously unreleased stuff I found on interest. Ray Davies, former front man of the Kinks, Working Man's Cafe and Led Zeppelin, Mothership, that also contains a nifty DVD. I like them all so far. For any Meat Puppets fans out there, Curt Kirkwood is in town recording an album as we speak with brother Chris. I saw them this spring and they were outstanding. Good guys too.

Az, is that Led Zeppelin compilation any different than the earlier greatest hits album? Is “D’Yer Mak’er” on the new CD? I'd love to hear "Kashmir" while rowing on Dal Lake, once described the most beautiful place on earth.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNSSpXap ... re=related <-- Robert Plant talking about Dread Zeppelin. Ha!

Yes D'yer Maker is on this. I don't know if it is just a remaster of the older compilation. I do know that Jimmy Page was involved in the project.

Not a bad list, Shark. I loved the Walkmen album. Here's my final list, though I couldn't make it to 10...

1. Crystal Stilts- Alight of Night
2. Frightened Rabbit- Midnight Organ Fight
3. The Walkmen - You and Me
4. Santogold- Santogold
5. Jay Reatard - Matador Singles '08

I also tried the Fleet Foxes album which seemed to be everyone's favorite and was just...bored by it. Your thoughts?

chet - I kind of had the same reaction to the Fleet Foxes record. It wasn't bad, but I just got tired of their shtick after a while, I don't know what it was ... "White Winter Hymnal" was definitely one of the best songs of the year though. Glad to hear you dug the Walkmen album ... they just always out do themselves. They were also pretty good live when I saw them this year.

What are Crystal Stilts like? A lot of "Crystal" bands going on in the indie scene lately ... I guess they are the new "wolf" bands ...

Yeah, there are a ton of Crystal bands out there. I like Crystal Castles and Crystal Antlers, but Stilts are by far my favorite. I'd describe Crystal Stilts as a cross between Joy Division and 60's Garage rock. They're a Brooklyn band who manage to always be playing a show in my area when I'm not around.
