Hi All,

I'm trying to plan a trip to Pittsburgh in May (during the Reds & Cardinals series) or July (over 4th of July weekend).

Looking at staying downtown, or nearby, and have found a few things on Air BnB, but I wanted to know if anyone has tips on any areas to lean towards, or more importantly, avoid.

So far I've been looking at the North Side, and The Strip district, but having never been to Pittsburgh before, I'm not familiar at all with the area.

Any info you guys can provide would be super helpful, thanks!

I am going to be taking both of those weekend games you are thinking about going to.

If you are looking for other stuff to do while in town, 4th of July weekend is the one to go to.

I live about 90 minutes east of Pittsburgh and my girlfriend and I haven't decided on where we are staying yet. I'm cheap so maybe somewhere on the outskirts of town. I probably should start looking into more myself.

Strip District is fine. A pretty cool area. Downtown is also fine.

North Side is where the ballpark is of course. There is a main highway that parallels the river. The area between the river and the highway is fine. On the other side of the highway is an area you would most likely want to avoid.

Thanks for the tips Ralphie.

I ended up booking an apartment Downtown, near to the Wood Street T station.

The Strip was my first choice, but I couldn't get a reply from the guy on AirBnB to book the apartment, so ended up going for my second choice, which is a bit more expensive, but in a pretty central location.

Booked up for May, during the Reds/Cardinals series. 4th of July would have been good, but I didn't want to wait that long. That can be a trip for another year :)

You can ride the T under the river to the ballpark, but since you're right across the river, its nicer to just walk if the weather is ok.
