Did anyone buy the new Guns CD? I'm curious what people think of it. I doubt I'll ever purchase it just because I know I'll be disappointed.

With all due respect, I didn't even know G n R was still in existance much less putting out product. I wonder who is still in the band? Is it an Axel Rose thing with some pickup band?

Yeah, it's Axl Rose and a cast of ringers, some of them fairly notable (Tommy Stinson of the Replacements; guitar-weirdo Buckethead). Rose has been tinkering with this damn album for a decade or more, and I'll be seriously surprised if it does anything but blow chunks.

Buckethead just played down the street from me here in Tempe a couple of Sunday's ago. Those two wack jobs deserve each other. For a good laugh, check out the Buckethead instructional guitar video. It's just too much.

I expected more after 12 years. The song "Chinese Democracy" wasn't as bad as I thought it could be, but it really wasn't that good either. There is still a GnR vibe, but I was left wanting. Check it out for yourself, you may want to skip the overly long first minute intro:

I don't think Buckethead is involved with GnR anymore either. The guy is supposed to be a real head case, and that's saying a ton considering he played with Axl Rose! Sick player though.

Dr. Pepper issued some challenge to Axl that if he released this album before the end of 2008, they'd give everyone in the US a free bottle of Dr. Pepper

This sounds like it would be part of a thirst-stimulus package.

I am a huge GnR fan and was thrilled that Chinese Democracy finally made it. What I did was divorce myself from the idea that it was going to be Appetite for Destruction, I listened to the CD with the idea that Axl was going to produce a new sound. I love it! it helped to not have the expectations that it would be like past releases, I feel its a new direction for GnR and I am aboard.
