I'm so undecided. I've never been to NYC and have always wanted to go. This would be a perfect opportunity but it's also at a very expensive time with New Year's Eve. Hotels are crazy expensive. I'd say I'm 75% sure I won't go but I can be persuaded fairly easily.

Keep in mind that while staying in a hotel in Manhattan is expensive, staying in one outside of Manhattan may not be. NYC has train lines that run in from Long Island, New Jersey and Connecticut, and getting to Yankee Stadium is a simple ride on the "6" train. Being familiar with NJ, I would check out the hotel rates in Jersey City and Hoboken, NJ, as hotels there have a great view of the NYC and easy access to Manhattan via the PATH train.

Syracuse played in this bowl last season and my friends that went said was outstanding being at Yankee Stadium for a football game. I highly recommend you go if you can.

And Willton is right on. No reason to stay in Manhattan. Plenty of other places that are reasonable.

Also, if you want to go, you should make a decision to buy quickly. I'll bet anything that Rutgers fans will be snapping up tickets very quickly, given the stadium's proximity to their alma mater.

Unfortunately no. Although the Cyclones lost, NYC this time of year sounds fun. Poor game today though, poor game. Yuck.
