Troy Polamalu........where was he the entire game against the Packers? What did he do the entire game? I watched the entire Super Bowl game. I hardly saw Polamalu the entire game except for the play he guessed wrong or moved inward when the Packers scored a touchdown.

He actually was non-existent all 3 playoff games. He hasn't made a "Troy" play since he jumped over the line in the 1st half against Cleveland. I'd bet that something will come out about his achilles now that its over.

Maybe. They only sent him on a blitz one time yesterday, and the Packers read the play and picked him up. It's hard to make big plays when you're playing center field 20 yards off the ball. He did admit to blowing the read on the one TD pass.

Spaeth pretty much blocks like a tackle. I'll take that from a backup tight end.

Are we talking about the same Spaeth?

Sisyphus meant to say that Spaeth catches like a tackle, and blocks like Ocho-cinco in December.

P.S. Sisy ... Steelers run 2-TE as their base offensive formation. Spaeth is not a back-up. He has been a starter for a couple of years, at least.

Yes. I actually watch linemen during the game.

Starter, backup, doesn't make much difference either way. He's usually on the field when they're running and usually off the field when they're throwing.

I just wish they'd get a fullback and go back to running out of the I. And nothing drives me crazier than watching them run four wideouts onto the field and put Ben in the shotgun with an empty backfield on third and two.

I'm tired of the 'genius' Bruce Arians and the reliance on Big Ben.

Someone needs to tell the Arians the running game can get 4-5 yards per play!

Then, I am at a loss for your statement.

Spaeth is just terrible as a blocker, and was noted as such coming out of college. He is a pass catching specialist who doesn't do that very well.

I look forward to many more "ole'!" moments as Spaeth stands, pushes arms out, spins, and does his best impressions of a matador.

This. Spaeth whiffs on more blocks than any other Steeler I have seen over the past, I don't know, 20 years maybe.

Spaeth is not put in the backfield as a blocker on pass plays because his blocking is so bad. Miller is instead put beside Ben.

Spaeth lunges and reaches frequently when run blocking, and winds up off balance and on the ground with great regularity.

He had one very good run block against the Packers. I was frankly stunned to see that it was Spaeth, not Miller, who made the block. I usually know that it is Spaeth "blocking" when I see the blocker on the ground and the defender crashing into the backfield.

This is why the two TE runnings sets include David Johnson, and not Spaeth.

I fail to see what he, and Mundy, bring to the table, except tantilizing talent that doesn't produce on any regular basis.

They are the LaRoche and Milledge of the Steelers.

Heck, I don't care if they throw it on third and short. I just think it's insane to tell the defense that you're going to throw it on third and short.

No, Miller is assigned pass blocking duty because his blocking is so good.

We're obviously not talking about the same Spaeth

I'll go with my own observation and judgment, especially since it seems to line up with what the coaches see.

If it did, then David Johnson would not be leading Mendenhall in the SB.

I agree, the coaches see something. I just don't. Then again, my experience stopped as a college lineman and GA coach after that.

Spaeth is way too tall to line up at fullback.
