Topic on ESPN radio in Des Moines right now is Paul Rhodes and his possible interest in taking Wanny's old job. My initial thought was that Rhodes is set in Ames due to him growing up there. Speculation seems to have ramped up over the past few days that he may actually be "listening" to what Pitt has to offer.

One comment by the very, very, very pro-ISU announcer was "why in the world would anyone choose to go to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania over Ames, Iowa?" That almost made me choke on my coffee.

Reports here have him not at all interested. Has good relationship with Pederson, but is making good money at ISU and likes it there.

No one here thinks he's coming. First choices are Holgorson (Sp?) at OSU and Al Golden at Temple.

Surprisingly, Tom Bradley has expressed interest in the job. Guess he is tired of waiting on JoePa. He would be a very good choice.

ZM, I'm hearing that Golden may be on Miami's radar also. I don't follow the coaching merry-go-round closely anymore, but if that's the case it would seem to me that the Miami job would trump Pitt's.

Then again, Golden may be biding his time until Joe finally hangs 'em up at Penn State. He was a tight end and former assistant coach under Paterno and there's a perception among a lot of Penn State fans that the head job will be offered either to him or to Pat Fitzgerald of Northwestern.

In this media-driven age and with a 107,000-seat stadium to fill, Penn State can't afford to make a mistake in its choice of a new head coach. He'll have to have a "presence" -- i.e., be dynamic and an articulate and polished speaker. Tom Bradley, alas, comes up short on both counts, although he's a superb recruiter and (except for this year) has been a terrific defensive coordinator.

Golden interviewed with the "U" and turned them down.

I have a feeling Bradley has been running most of the team functions for the past few years...

Now looks like he's reversed himself. Wow, what a surprise.

I think someone was sipping on the ISU Kool-Aid a tad too much! In fairness though, there are still millions of people that view Pittsburgh as a steel milled, rusty, dusty, and dreary city. This was probably just another uninformed moron.

Was it a guy named Matt Perrault that said this? He is on 1460 from 4-7. He's a buddy of mine. He likes to be the antagonist the majority of the time so I can't imagine him being pro-ISU on this topic.
