Football question:

Can Darrelle Revis cover Calvin Johnson?

I watched the Lions-Broncos game Saturday night. The Lions will be decent this season. Not sure how
it will translate recordwise as we have no depth and a poor secondary, but we will win more than a few games.

Defensive coordinators have to commit two and a half DBs or more to cover CJ. "Megatron" is virtually uncoverable. I only
hope Revis joins the Jets soon to see how they handle him.

Matthew Stafford is looking real good. He's a leader. He can move the sticks easily with so many weapons. Jahvid Best
has a burst of speed in the backfield that we've lacked since the departure of Barry Sanders. We've added a legit
# 2 receiver in Nate Burleson.. Tony Scheffler will push Brandon Pettigrew at tight end.. offensively the Honolulu Blue
and Silver are loaded.

Our defensive line is very strong. Ndamukong Suh will eventually play all positions.. he is a disruptive force now at age 23!
We've added Kyle Vanden Bosch and Corey Williams to go along with pass rusher Cliff Avril and Julian Peterson.

I assume we will lose a lot of 40-34 games but Detroit football is relevent
again!! :)

A Lions and Buccos fan?

You sir, are a saint.

Best of luck to your team this year. I'm hoping they do well also.

If the Lions win only one game, I hope it's against the Patriots.

Not that I expect it.

What can you guys tell me about these two players who will be wearing Honolulu Blue and Silver this season?

Stefan Logan, picked up this week. We haven't had a decent kick returner in over five years.

Cornerback Aaron Berry from Pitt. This guy is fearless.. I don't know why he wasn't drafted but I'm glad we signed him.
Lions have four rookies in their secondary.. not a good sign but Berry looks like a keeper.

Logan is a good kick returner. He can catch the ball, and has good speed and good elusiveness. The downside is he is small and that's all he can do.

Look for other teams to try to stand him up and strip the ball. This was done successfully last year because, as Ralphie notes, he is so small and light. He's no match for the linebacker types on kick-coverage units.

Why is Calvin Johnson nicknamed Megatron? Just wondering, cuz Megatron was/is my favorite G1 Transformer, hands down!

^ Isn't Megatron a robot? I don't even know what it is.. but he's super human. 6'5" about 240 lbs.. runs a 4.35 forty.

It seems that Matthew Stafford can never stay healthy enough to be a good QB. He has suffered three serious injuries in a little more than a year.

At this point, I am rooting for the Lions to improve but believe that the physical problems of their QB will limit their ceiling.

Jahvid Best is... (pick a synonym for 'really, really good').

That 70+ yard run Best scored on a screen pass vs. Philly.. man, that was sweet! He can excelerate big time. Most running backs would've had a nice 8 or 9 yard gain. This guy can score on every play. He can stop and start.. we haven't had anyone with such a quick first step since Barry Sanders..

Now if only Calvin Johnson can develop into the stud we all know he can be. Lions offensive coordinator isn't calling
enough plays for him or something. The Texans throw to Andre Johnson constantly. There's no reason why Detroit can't do that, too. Calvin plays with a different QB every two or three weeks though..

Stefan Logan muffed a punt and it led to a Vikings touchdown in a game where Minnesota looked terrible. We did use him
on an end around and he got 21 yards on the carry. I'd love to see more of him if there's a way to utilize his speed.
