The once loved Le Bron James is now the most hated man in Cleveland.. probably more hated than Art Modell.

I delight in the agony of Cleveland sports fans so I'm lovin' it!! :)

The best open letter from an Owner, quite possibly ever:

Angry, blunt, and comical.

Gotta love it.

Talk about pandering.

A guy who used the free market to make his millions, and who tried to take Chris Bosh from HIS team and Dwayne Wade from HIS city, criticizing a guy who used his free choice to choose where he wanted to play.

Laughable.

Not to be considered an endorsement of the "show" around this signing.

@ZM: This whole thing is the theater of the absurd. Sports IS theater. We don't need artificial self serving drama to make it better. See also: Kovalchuk.

I look at it two ways.

I rolled my eyes with all the ESPN hype and media hype around this. Am also not a fan at all of the "King James" stuff. Especially in the 3rd persons references.

However, if they wanted to make that show fun, at least, they should have treated it like a boxing event, or "Lets make a Deal".

Have all the NBA team logos lit up on a big board on stage. Have LeBron come in and start yapping about whatever. Then periodically go and turn off one team's light until he picks the winner.

Now, THAT would be theater... of the absurd. But, I expect no less from the NBA.

The whole thing was so meaningless. I hope Miami never wins a title. That would be justice. This might be the most overhyped story of the 21st century. And ESPN is a disgrace. I have really stopped watching.

As for the Cavs owner, where was his loyalty to his head coach and GM he just fired? They only had the best record in the NBA the past two season. Loyalty, my ass.

Gilbert is an idiot. An absolute idiot. In one fell, ill-advised press of the "ENTER" button, he instantly converted the sympathy felt by many (is "millions" too many?) for Cleveland's current plight into "wow . . . the Cleveland owner is nuts."

Think about it.
LaBron James, home grown hero, just left. During his play for Cleveland, the franchise value likely rose significantly. James couldn't convince Bosh to play in Cleveland. Bosh is not a Tier 1 superstar. Bosh said he'd join James anywhere but Cleveland. If you can't keep a home town hero in town by offering a max contract, who are you going to attract? And, if Gilbert is lucky enough to land another superstar (let alone the best player in the game), do you really think that superstar will forget Gibert's rant after LBJ left? Why would any player trust what Gilbert has to say? You think any superstar will think that Gilbert has his back?

Gilbert made a really bad situation in Cleveland much worse. Good luck attracting top flight talent now.

Moron move in my eyes.

As for LBJ . . . I won't even start. Not a NBA fan . . . but actively rooted against Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest. Now . . . if the Lakers play the Heat, I'm rooting for the Lakers. And that takes a lot for me to admit.

I get the Lebron hate, but lets be honest here:

We as Pirate fans would totally take seven years of one of the best players in the game playing in black and gold and leading our team to prominence (and falling short), even if it meant he stabbed us in the back in the end.

We would totally take that deal.

We would hate that player's guts after he left, but we'd cherish and remember fondly (as best as we could) those seven years.

Isn't that right, Barry Bonds?

The NBA has been the equivalent of pro wrestling at least since they stopped calling traveling. That's when I lost interest.

Barry Bonds made no pretense of having desire to continue playing in Pittsburgh. Barry Bonds did not have a hour-long narcissistic TV show dedicated to his free agency choice. Barry Bonds was not a "home town" hero. Big difference between Bonds and LBJ.
You'd see the same anger in Minneapolis/St. Paul if Joe Mauer pulled that manuever up there and left to play for the Yankees.

Very true, the NBA is getting closer and closer to turning into the MLB, where there's maybe 4 teams that have a chance to win it all. I've been telling my Cleveland peeps that I'd rather have the NHL if the Cavs indeed have to move in a few years, which is definitely a reality. I know you guys relish in Cleveland's agony lol, well some of you, but Lebron is a punk. This would be like Sidney Crosby saying he was taking his talents to Edmonton on national tv. I'm not trying to make stupid comparisons, just saying.

While Le Bron was here Clevelanders thought the world was envious of Cleveland. You couldn't tell anyone here that
"nobody bothers anymore." Now that he's gone Cavs fans have seen the light. We can all turn back into pathetic
losers again. He he!
