I was for Deutschland uber alles and a Deutschland-Holland final, but alas 'A Match too Far' was not to be.

Now that it's Espana-Holland I think it's anyone's game.

I think Holland has played better the whole tourney (hence why they haven't lost) and it'd be great if they won.

Hup Holland!

Kind of a slow-paced game. Netherlands had a very good scoring chance but could not convert. Rooting for the Netherlands in honor of Dutch, and disappointed with result.

Will admit, however, that I did not watch much of the game. Had to go to the market, get an oil change, get the car washed, etc.

You missed a lot of flopping.

If anyone ever wants to know why soccer isn't popular in the USA, that was the game to watch. I've never seen so many grown men squirm and cry on the ground for no reason. I have to watch some Rugby or Australian Rules Football just to get my man card back.

AFL (Australian Football League) is the greatest televised sport in the history of mankind. Unfortunately for me, the cable channel carrying the games every Saturday night no longer does so.

The stupid cable provider elimated AFL coverage two years ago. DAMN IT!

You apparently don't watch much professional basketball.

I agree that the flopping is distasteful. Its especially prevalent in Spain, France and Italy. Perhaps I'm biased, but I've always preferred the more physical style of play exhibited by northern European teams like England and Germany.

Bucfan, you can see Aussie Rules Football online for free at ESPN3. They broadcast games live Friday, Saturday, and Sunday:

http://espn.go.com/espn3/index

Friday July 16 6:30 AM - Adelaide Crows vs. Geelong Cats

Sat. July 17 12 AM - Collingwood vs. St. Kilda

Sun. July 18 12 AM - Richmond vs. North Melbourne

I love this channel. They show everything from cricket to spelling bees.

Love Aussie rules. Actually played in an organized game once in college.

My favorite part is when the ref signals a goal with the two guns.

And they have the nerve to call football (soccer) "The beautiful Game"!

As a showcase for the game, that final was a disgrace and a turn-off.

The Dutch deserved to have at least 3 players sent off. The Ref was obviously trying to avoid a WC Final with 8 players playing 9. He did a fine job in trying conditions. The players showed no respect for either the rules or the spirit of the game.

Perhaps they should think of changing the rules and having a Sin Bin, where players who commit fouls or dives etc., and currently might just receive a yellow card, are sent for a length of time.

I'm with you Bertie. That was a terrible display for a final of this magnitude.

That said, it is the same for most Super Bowls.
