Aaaaargh!! We battle back to within a goal and Andrei Kostitsyn can't get the puck in deep
with a minute left in the period.. just like that it's 4-2 Pens. Andrei has had a few
giveaways. He's clearly not 100%.

We can't be giving the Pens power plays. They are too skilled. The first penalty by Gionta was a bad one.
Then Markov goes down.. it wasn't a bad play by Cook, but because of his reputation Gomez assumed
Cook was playing dirty, so Gomez goes to the box.. bam! Staal scores.

Halak hasn't really faced that many shots. Can't really blame him for any of the Pens' goals.

Fleury is vulnerable tonight, too. Maxim Lapierre nearly tied it before Andrei K made that gaff.
I like some of the hits Moen and Moore have put on Crosby and Malkin but we need more.

I'm not happy with Fleury. He is letting in too many soft goals and every goal allowed in the playoffs is huge.

Even despite my man Eric Staal's injury, a glorious W.

Hope the PP can keep it up and MAF stays sharp for the rest of the series.

Gonchar should be ashamed of himself with the way he played yesterday. He just let dudes skate by him and they ended up scoring goals. He looked like he was somewhere else mentally last night.

On the plus side, I think us losing yesterday will help get that hunger back for next season. The team will now have time off to regroup and come back stronger for another run next season!

Let's go Pens!!

Don't misread this as they played well, but that criticism of Gonchar is plain wrong.

Not to mention his history of stepping up, if he had taken the body along the boards, it was right to the box for interference. And, they could not afford that at that point in the game.

It looked bad, I'll grant you that.

No denying that he played brilliant in our 2008 and 2009 playoff runs. He deserves praise for that and for playing great once we signed him. But Wednesday's performance was just awful. Plus, how can it be interference when the dude has the puck, like on that SH goal Moen scored?

Winger did NOT have the puck, that was the problem, Gonch backed off once he unloaded the puck along the boards. It would have been classic interference at that point.

But, like interference in the NFL on a sure touchdown pass, do you take it and hope to hold on the PP?

Actually, you are correct, Moen didn't have the puck when he skated past Gonchar. But Gonchar was standing still, he could have at least been moving backwards or trying to get the puck.

Either way, we didn't bring our A game when we needed it the most, that's the bottom line.

Gonchar at least needs to keep skating backwards or turn and get the puck. He did neither. A massive fail for a veteran defenseman.
