Neither Dejuan Blair or Sam Young went in the 1st round of the NBA draft. Right now they are about 6 or 7 picks into the 2nd round and neither have been picked yet.

Sam Young was just picked before Blair in the 2nd round by the Memphis Grizzlies.

Dejuan Blair just went with the pick right after Sam Young. Sam Young goes #36 to the Grizzlies, and Blair goes #37 to the San Antonio Spurs.

I bet Blair wishes he would have stayed at Pitt.

He was really really poor. He was from The Hill District. I think he had to go just because he needs cash so bad.

I thought he was guaranteed a #1 pick?

His true size, 6'6", and 2 knee surgeries worked against him. That said, I think he is a steal for the Spurs.

I agree.

Blair and Young are both very good, but Blair will be the better NBA player.

Yeah they said that Blair will be a spot starter next season with the Spurs. So he will get his chances, but they want him to be a true Center, and i see him more as a power foward in the NBA.

He definitely has the span but his length is questionable. If he develops a jump shot he could be a poor man's Charles Barkley.

Does anybody else think that Blair's agent is doing him no favors by talking up the fact that he wasn't drafted higher because of having no ACLs in his knees? Seems to me that something like that could be used against him in contract negotiations. I'm not sure what purpose it served bringing it up.

Also, the agent pretty much threw Jamie Dixon and his staff under the bus by saying that they tried to persuade Blair to stay even though they knew it would just make his knee situation worse, implying that they were acting in their own best interest rather than Blair's. Again, what purpose did this serve?

In my mind, every word that comes out of an agent's mouth should be for the purpose of building up his client's worth. I think this guy is hurting rather than helping Blair.

Yeah i agree he is hurting Blair. He is making it sound like he is going to implode in a year or two.
