But 4-2 is a pleasant surprise! I think sadly we will miss the "barn" aspect of the Igloo next year.

The new arena is actually two seasons away. It won't be ready until the 2010-2011 season.

It's across the street from Mellon Arena. Where the hospital used to be.

Oh thats good. Atleast it will still be easy to get to. I don't like how hard it is for me to get to places like the Zoo and Kennywood coming through the Fort Pitt tunnels on route 60.

Pens win 4-2. It could've been 5-2. Back to Detroit tied 2-2

I really thought the Pens would struggle to win this game. This a great day! Now I'm going to watch the debut on the DVR. :)

When was the last time you were there? The walkways are narrow, the leg room is small, the suites/private boxes are pathetic compared to new arena & stadiums....and its just outdated. Like many older ball parks and arenas, they have some charm, but you can only renovate so much. The new arena will not be just for the Pens(not like the Steelers/Pirates hand out homes)so I dont mind my money helping for a community building.

The Tide Has Turned
Image
Down 2-1 in the series, down 2-1 in game 4, short handed on back to back penalties with the Wings seemingly in control, Staal on a feed from Mad Max scores a shorty. Then Geno to Sid.... Then Kunitz, Crosby, Kennedy play tic tac toe...Bing-Bang- BOOM and the tide has turned.

The Pens are sucking the big one in Game 5. Fleury has looked soft. Players standing around. Losing their poise.

Awful effort.

This is terrible. It is like we know we are going to lose in Detroit so we don't even try.

The good news is this isn't soccer where goal differential matters. It's 3-2 whether the Pens lost by 1 or 5 or 10.

Gotta go home and take care of business and hope they get some bounces in Game 7.

I just think if we get shut out 5-0 that could deflate our momentum more than if we would lose 9-1.

Well i didn't get my wish. This was the worst thing that could've happened in this game. This game will be remembered as the reason why Detroit is going to be back to back champions.

On WDFN Detroit they were asking the question "who do you hate more? Le Bron James or Sidney Crosby?"

Detroiters seem to despise Crosby but not Malkin. They feel Crosby is a whiner, that he was annointed the face of the league despite winning nothing. They bring up that NHL Network commercial with the Pens fan behind the glass. It shows Crosby scoring a goal yet the Red Wings won the series.

As you might expect Detroit fans also say Datsyuk and Zetterberg are more complete players than Crosby and Malkin.

It's been a fun series to watch but I'm waiting for football.
