Top 25 Results

Lets check up on some top 25's

#16 LIU Post survived New Haven 35--34! Really!

In the CIAA, unranked Bowie State trounced #18 Winston-Salem 31--13. Guess Bowie State is for real1

Down south, Albany State upset # 25 Tuskegee 20--7. Albany is always a "force"!

Arkansas Tech defeated # 23 Henderson State 26--3. Well, I have heard good things about Arkansas State!

Out west, Humboldt State undid #13 Azusa State 30--19 Must confess, I am at a loss! So is Azusa State!

West Texas A &M beat #14 CSU Pueblo 24--21. A visit to Canyon, Texas is never a pleasure trip, unless you are just a tourist going there to see the awesome canyon!. Just kidding! It really is a nice place on all counts.

I will try to look up some reports on these games!

All games are crossover games, but there are home teams in both the East and West divisions. Here are my predictions:

IUP beats Cheyney--another tough weekend for the Wolves, West Chester wins at home over the "Fightin Scots", long day for Seton Hill at Kutztown--Golden Bears should have no trouble, Shippensburg wins on the road at Clarion, California rolls over Millersville, Gannon wins on the road at Bloomsburg, Lock Haven loses big at SRU, and East Stroudsburg at home defeats Mercyhurst. The best games should be Gannon at Bloomsburg and the West Chester-Gannon games. Hope to make the trip up to Bloomsburg! If not, I'll drive out to see the game at West Chester. New Div II polls will be released tomorrow. SRU might now be in the Top 25. WCU will in all likelihood drop out. Will be looking for more videos.

The Div II "Winner of the Week" award goes to the unranked Buffaloes of West Texas A & M for their win over #7 ranked Colorado State Pueblo by a score of 24--21.

The "Flaming Ruins" award goes to #23 ranked Henderson State (held to just a field goal) who lost to unranked Arkansas Tech 26--3.

AFCA Div II Poll for September 11

http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/d2/afca-coaches

As I suspected, SRU in now in the Top 25; and West Chester has fallen out of the top 25. IUP and California are still there based on their expected wins and NWMSU stays at #1. LIU Post in the Top 10? CSU-Pueblo took a major hit!

A Few Comments on the PSAC

In the PSAC East, after seeing two weeks of play; I no longer think West Chester is the prohibitive favorite to win the East. I think Kutztown has the ability to beat out the Golden Rams for the PSAC East laurels. Nor would I discount Shippensburg. I still find Bloomsburg's chances in the PSAC East to be dubious. East Stroudsburg is also a team that could--on a given day--be troublesome for the likes of WCU, KU, and Ship, but I don't see their being good enough or consistent enough to win it all. The rest of the PSAC teams will be "also rans".

In the PSAC West, I now think that Slippery Rock has a legitimate shot at winning it all. The win over WCU was BIG, but what is of concern is that they gave up 42 points and nearly squandered a big lead. Nevertheless, SRU now is a true contender for PSAC West laurels. Obviously, Cal and IUP are still the favorites. Nobody else in the West has a shot. Was taken aback by Seton Hill's loss to Millersville!
Clarion losing at home to Bloomsburg was by my way of thinking unexpected. Gannon is another mystery with all of its football scholarships. They could very well beat Bloomsburg whose pass defense is woeful , even though the the Erie Countians are on the road. I hope I can get there to see this one.
