Husky's PSAC Picks for Week 11

California over East Stroudsburg Vulcans playoff hopes are on the line.

Edinboro rolls over Cheyney. Second trip east for the Fightin' Scots yields a win this time.

Kutztown edges Slippery Rock. Golden Bears play the role of spoiler and knock off the Rockets.

Millersville tops Gannon. The improved Marauders get another win.

Clarion defeats Bloomsburg. Huskies end the season with a three game losing streak.

Shippensburg crushes Seton Hill. Playoff bound Red Raiders can name the score. In any case, it won't be close.

Mercyhurst wins at Lock Haven. Bald Eagles end the season on a down note.

PSAC Championship Game:

IUP comes to West Chester and comes away with the PSAC Championship. IUP has too many offensive weapons-- led by standout QB Williams-- which the Golden Rams will not be able to contain.

Super Regional Rankings for November 6

http://www.d2football.com/regionalrankings/13/

I would suggest that West Chester, California, and Slippery Rock ALL need to win this coming Saturday to remain in the running for a post-season playoff berth. It is quite possible that all three could lose in this upcoming final week of the regular season. Even if all three win, it seems to me that one of the three teams in question will not be chosen for the playoffs. Just my opinion.

Some Important Games on Saturday, November 11

In the GMAC Findlay with a 9--1 record visits Ohio Dominican. Findlay's one loss was to highly ranked Ferris State. At the same time, ODU is at home with two of its losses to #23 ranked California of the PSAC 36--34 and also to Penn of the FCS. This game is quite important for #24Findlay, as it jockeys for a super regional playoff berth.

In the NSIC, undefeated and #2 ranked Minnesota State visits #11 Souix Falls. No need to elaborate on the significance of this game, as it has playoff implications for both teams.

In the GAC, Ouachita Baptist (9--1) visits Henderson State (6--4). Harding (7--3) travels to Arkansas Tech (8--2). Both Ouachita Baptist and Arkansas Tech are still in the hunt for a playoff berth. Both Henderson State and Harding did not get off to good starts, but have picked things up as the season has progressed.

In the LSC, #8 Texas A & M Commerce visits an always dangerous Tarleton State, who just lost to #5 Midwestern State by the scant margin of 45--42. TA&MC is also in the playoff hunt.

In the GNAC, #10 and undefeated Central Washington journeys to # 19 Humboldt State (8--1) for this year's rematch. Central Washington won the first encounter. More playoff implications tied to this game.

Looking further, in the CIAA #16 and undefeated Virginia State visits Fayetteville State with a record of 7--3.
Virginia State needs this win to secure a well seeded position in the Super Region one playoffs.

In the GSC, #18 West Georgia at 8--2 goes on the road to play West Florida at 5--3. Same refrain! West Georgia needs the win to remain in the playoff hunt.

Also down south, in the SIAC Tuskegee (8--2) meets Fort Valley (5--4). Obvously, Tuskegee needs the win to remain playoff competitive.

Back to the LSC, where #5 Midwestern State at 8--0 takes on Eastern New Mexico at 8--1, whose one loss was to Texas A & M Commerce earlier in the season. More playoff implications attached to this contest!

In an inter-conference battle, #17 Colorado Mesa of the RMAC travels to Azusa State of the GNAC, who is 6--4; but all of their four losses came at the hands of conference rivals #10 Central Washington and #19 Humboldt State. Mesa at 9--1 needs to win this one to be sure of playoff inclusion.

In conclusion, there is still MUCH to be decided before the playoff selections are announced on Sunday the 12th. Enjoy the journey to the conference championships and post-season! Husky

From a Northeast 10 Perspective

In my opinion, Assumption is indeed a team to be reckoned with come playoff time.

Games Involving Two Nationally Ranked Teams

In the NSIC, #2/#1 Minnesota State--depending upon with which poll you agree--visits #11 Souix Falls. In the GNAC, #10 Central Washington meets #19 Humboldt State for the second time--HS is at home this time. Both Central Washington and Minnesota State are undefeated. I think both teams will remain that way, with the Wildcats and Mavericks heading into the playoff selection on Sunday undefeated.

In the NSIC, #14 Winona State defeated Augustana last night 52--21. The win greatly enhances the Warriors' playoff aspirations for the post season in Super Region 4. Winona State finishes the regular season with a record of 10--1 and holds down the fourth place spot in the super regional rankings and should be "a lock" to be selected for the post season Division II playoffs.

PSAC Scores for Saturday, November 11

Bloomsburg 31 Clarion 15--Huskies end year with a win, but ....?

Edinboro 63 Cheyney 0--Fightin' Scots made the best of a season that started off on a bad note.

California 31 East Stroudsburg 14--Vulcans preserved their playoff hopes.

Mercyhurst 23 Lock Haven 10--I wonder if Lock Haven moved the ball well, but still ended up losing?

Shippensburg 51 Seton Hill 13--Ship now in the playoffs for sure.

Kutztown 42 Slippery Rock 34--Told you so! SRU's playoff hopes quashed in all likelihood.

Gannon 39 Millersville 7--I thought the Marauders were up for a better show.

IUP 24 West Chester 7 IUP with its Lennie Williams' led offense was too much for the Golden Rams. IUP has a legitmate shot at the Div II national semifinals.

Husky picked 6 of the eight games correctly. He missed the mark on the Bloomsburg--Clarion and Gannon--Millersville games. Husky finished the regular season with a PSAC record of 71--25 for a percentage of 74%. Stick around, as their are a number of games still not completed that have playoff ramifications.
