He was still the Isles Captain wasn't he?

Oh well.....could be a solid second line winger.

He's no Hossa but then again hardly much given up for a solid gritty winger

Other than the "gritty" part, how is Guerin much of an upgrade on Satan? They're both old RWs who have 36 points this season.

Another mission accomplished in Pittsburgh Penguins GM Ray Shero's "Operation: Grow a Pair." Bill Guerin goes from the New York Islanders to the Penguins, and the TSN panel is fawning over it like it's the Guerin of 1998 instead of the old dude with the .088 shooting percentage.

The Penguins have sent a fifth-round pick that become a four if the Penguins make the playoffs and a three if they win a round.

This is an intangible move, just like it would have been if the Washington Capitals had snagged Guerin's services. From a production standpoint, he's got Miroslav Satan's numbers. But he's a much more important player than Satan in what he brings to a locker room and what he brings to the ice beyond the numbers.

Shero has now added Chris Kunitz, Craig Adams and Bill Guerin to this team. Give the man credit: He realized his decisions last summer neutered this locker room, and has reinserted a spine into this franchise. If that puts the Penguins back in the mindset of last season's team, then Pittsburgh's dangerous.

I like Kunitz, he's a better version of Malone. Props to Shero on that one.

Craig Adams blows.

Bill Guerin is blows-lite. Maybe he'll have better chemistry with Crosby than Satan?

This team is no where near as good as the one at this time last year.

Pens squeak into playoffs, maybe make the second round.

No where near as good? This is a similar team except for Hossa(and that is a void)
Dont sell'em short. One thing about the NHL is that year after year, the playoff seedings dont mean that much...bottom line is to get in. There is no team in the Eastern conference that would be a mismatch.

I think it all depends on where they end up being seeded.

Hey Bull, is it that hard to cite a source when you copy and paste someone else's comments?

Credit for the above statements goes to Puck Daddy.

That source & link had multiple stories so I just posted the section only relevant to the Pens. What difference does it make?

Three points today for Guerin. Pens have won six straight.
